About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To be interested in everything and everyone! That's why I became a writer. I find people fascinating and love finding out about their stories. And I love having adventures and telling stories -- the stuff of live, no?
ABOUT ME
Hello there. I've lived in a bunch of places -- New York, Washington, Paris, London (where I grew up), Iqaluit, Vancouver, Montreal, and now Toronto. Mostly, it was for work -- I'm a journalist -- used to be in TV, now I write books. I think a lot about neuroplasticity, and I feel travel can be a great way to spring the mind open. Throw out the debris of prejudice and gain new memories and friendships.
PHILOSOPHY
I feel the world is a place of endlessly evolving curiosities. I love learning and spend most of my time reading. I love making connections -- personally, emotionally and intellectually. Everyone has their own gift and something to teach us.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm new to couch-surfing -- but I had one inspiring experience and I hope to have many more. What I'd love to do is give someone a fascinating insight into my city Toronto
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I went to Northern Ireland with a fellow couch surfer Lia Grimanis. My host was so considerate and engaged. She opened her home and gave me an insider's understanding of the place. Thank you!
Interests
I couch surfed this summer, and it was amazing. The people were so welcoming and warm, and gave us a wonderful insight into their lives, the area, history of the place.

Music, Movies, and Books
In movies, music and books, I'm a bit of an indiscriminate glutton. I love gender bender of books -- stuff that combines several subjects like anything by Lewis Hyde or Steven Johnson. I recently read the Bible -- more for its wonderful poetry, rather than religion. I'm still wondering whether Ezekiel might have been suffering from schizophrenic delusions....
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I lived on a First Nation reserve for a book I'm currently writing. It was an isolated community in James Bay. Heart-breaking and fascinating. I've spent the past two years researching the history and politics. Needless to say, it changed my life.
Teach, Learn, Share
As a writer, I'd love to help people engage in the fabric of Toronto -- it's arts, culture, and literary scene. I love cooking, so if you want a home cooked meal, I'm your woman. I meditate every day, Vipassana -- so if that's your thing, I'm glad to take you somewhere special.
