About Me
My name is Alexa. I'm a graduate student living/working in upstate New York. I love to cook, and I think food is a really cool way to learn and connect with other people and places. I would love to cook for any host! I’m a photographer and love landscape photography (although right now I mostly shoot portraits and weddings).
During the day, I like to spend time outdoors if I can. I am very active, and love hiking, mountain biking, and rock climbing. (I’m a beginner climber). I'm also interested in historical places. I could spend my day in museums and churches and castles and not get too bored. I tend to avoid staying home during the day
My nighttime routine depends on where I am and who I’m with. I tend to be a quiet person and definitely prefer an early night/early morning, however I'm always down to go out or have a late night. If your house has specific quiet hours, I will 100% abide by them.
I am often travelling with my boyfriend, Dylan. He does not have a couchsurfing profile, but I'd be happy to link to his social media on request.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I think this is a much more authentic way to travel! As much as it is nice to stay in a hotel, I feel like you can't really connect with local people or learn about where you are as deeply as when you stay with locals. Hotels can get very expensive, too.

Music, Movies, and Books
I’m open to lots of genres! Right now, here are my favorites:
Music: anything except country music
Movies: anything except horror films.
Books: I’m re-reading Harry Potter right now and trying to relive my childhood.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I was a national park ranger
Teach, Learn, Share
I am a photographer and would love to share my skill! I love teaching people, and I love taking photos of people. I'd be happy to take some photos of you or take you out to your favorite outdoor location to give you some tips!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I'm always happy to bring along some beer/wine and treats (I'm a sucker for a good bakery). If you have any beer/wine/food preferences, I will not be offended if you let me know! I want to share things you like. I'm also happy to bring anything from the US you'd like to try.
