About Me

CURRENT MISSION: saper vivere
I feel so pretentious writing things like this. Anyway, here we go:

Addicted to filling note books, my curious me started travelling around the world in October 2015 to learn and to write for one and a half years. Afterwards I studied in Berlin for a while, now I am studying Creative Writing in a smaller town called Hildesheim, where I live in a beautiful house project called Trillke Gut.
I get hangry easily and I am grumpy in the morning.

When travelling, I really enjoy talking to a lot of different people that feel at home at the place I visit.
And: I always looking for possibilities to see some of the surrounding nature, my absolutely favorite way to do this is by riding horses!

Other than that, I want to learn from the world and its many beautiful people as much as possible. I am (pretty much) always down to meet new people that teach me more about life and its wonders.

Travelling, I don't aim " to see a lot". "Seeing" to me mostly feels like "hearing". I want to listen. To me the most interesting thing is the relationships and influences of places and people on each other. I want to meet, encounter, not touch shoulders passing by.
My reasons to travel and leave are introspective for the most part. But that.. is something I could tell you when we meet.

Due to past experiences :
1. please tell me if you are offering a shared sleeping surface and your profile doesn't say so. If you invite me to share your bed with you, that means you have your side of it and I have mine. This is not tinder. It's a shame that I feel like I have to say this here.

2. I prefer to talk to people in person instead of chatting, I am not into social media. If there is Facebook adds etc then after meeting face to face. I like to keep the internet part as short as possible.
let's just trust each other we are real people intending to do good. The opposite won't be proven chatting anyway.
When messaging me, I am always happy to know someone read my profile before.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

there is so much that we can learn from one another and so many stories to be told, so many laughs to be shared and so much to be taught.
even more than that, I believe in change through trusting another. I want to be part of a community that likes to help one another, trust each other across borders and lend hands to be able to reach out to other ones later.
It's not about giving (when one hand is on top of the other), it's more like passing water from a village to a forest to fight a fire.
I feel bliss when on the road. open your home and you open the world :) share the love!

Interests

people, writing, theater, literature, good wine, philosophy

... I like movement - smoke clouds, to drift, to flow, to float, waves, sun on a late summer's evening, rain drops on windows, street rivers after rain, walking meanwhile forgetting where to, touching trees while balancing on fallen trunks, the sound of leaves in wind and light shining through, the cracks of wood under your feet, bare feet walks through summer meadows and on sun warm asphalt, the uncounted voices of morning birds, fresh air when a dark sky turns bright, the silence of night snow and the sound that every first step in it leaves and benches in cemeteries
I like headstands and climbing trees, swimming in rivers and watching the stars, bats, ants, seagulls, forgetting time and forgetting you forgot time, I am always too late and I like living in bubbles, tea pots, street lantern's light, the moon, candles, fire crackling, childrens' questions - it's all in your head, alice

Music, Movies, and Books

I adore books. Some authors (prose, poetry, theater) I have really enjoyed reading works of:
Shida Bazyar, Cees Nooteboom, Siri Hustvedt, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Luís Sepulveda, Virginia Woolf, Annette Pehnt, Milan Kundera, Maren Kames, Friederike Mayröcker, Falk Richter, Marius von Mayenburg, Muriel Barbery, Tschingis Aitmatow, Margaret Atwood, Max Frisch, Peter Stamm, Ingrid Lausund

I haven't watched many movies, but I loved all the ones by Wes Anderson and I'm a big fan of Jim Jarmusch's work.

Music - a lot of different stuff, mostly rather introspective music, but also lots of Funk, recently quite some Motown. My favorite artist for quite some time has been Fatoumata Diawara.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

giving polaroid camera photos to strangers, secretly shot in their happy moments

Teach, Learn, Share

I am curious. Teach me everything you can! For example:
how to cook your favorite food, how to play with fire balls, about every musical instrument, about medicinal or eatable plants, about birds, climbing, surfing, knotting, every way of expressing yourself artistically, arts in general, theater in specific, slack lining, how to dread hair properly, how to make and bake bread yourself (for example simple bread on fire) generally how-to-do-yourself, I want to learn about alternative ways of living, about the history and politics of your country, about the hospitality culture, eating rituals, everything about cultures in general, tea and coffee rituals, tea in general, ....

In exchange, I can tell you a story or two, cook with and/or for you, show you how to play a song on the piano, (and I know how to carry a tray on your finger tips.)

What I Can Share with Hosts

I attempt to be a low-maintenance person, so I should be easy to handle. As I'm really used to being a host (figuratively speaking: I don't know my friends' places, they only know mine)
I am a respectful, polite person when being a guest, trying to align to my hosts' rules and ways of living. I try to be really honest, so let's just talk about expectations and I'm sure we can share a lot with each other!

What I can personally share with you: my interest for your stories and our shared moments, my cooking skills (let's call them skills for now..) , my ideas and positive energy and hopefully some good talks!
