About Me
CURRENT MISSION
offering my unconditional love to the world
ABOUT ME
hm. it's difficult to reassure people of your moral character and bewitching personality without some degree of shameless self promotion.
So I'll say this: Let's look at me like a pie chart. Cherry? You like cherry? Ok fine, I'm a cherry pie.
I'm like... 12% (anti-new agey) meditation guru, 32% crazy runner chick, 43% LA party girl/photo whore fashionista, 67% artist (of a shocking variety of mediums) 31% over-opinionated feminist, 22% tech geek... ok obviously "math genius" isn't in there. I don't feel like adding all this shit up, and these percentages fluctuate... Scratch that.
All you need to know is that, all the behaviors, circumstances and attitudes aside, I am 100% unconditional love... and you are too. You can't help it! You can fight it, but it's damn true.
meditation is a daily practice in my life. As well as watching episodes of Kung Fu. and Secret Diary of a Call Girl. All this and seeing my mind... obviously, speed-walking-- nay, jogging! --the path to enlightenment.
PHILOSOPHY
Everyone has both lightness and darkness. Everything is riddled with contradictions. Melancholy is necessary to then experience joy. Embrace the dark. Not coincidentally, this is why I love Russian literature.
(ugh, do you ever go back and read what you write, and feel really nauseous? well, that's how I feel, but I stubbornly refuse to erase it.)
So...a lot of my inspiration and motivation to travel comes from a newfound raison d'etre. I saved my own life this past year, and it was a very difficult battle; a very long and personal story indeed (one which I am willing to share after getting to know you a little). But now that I'm strong and physically all here, I'm ready for some crazy good times, you could say.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I would LOVE to host people at some point, when I've got a couch to call my own! I currently live at a dharma center (just google it or something) and can't really host people, unless you're curious about buddhism and meditation, you could come volunteer here or pay to visit. It's just that awesome.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Hosted Olivier (see review) for a weekend, 'twas grand... met plenty of CSers in Paris, Toulouse, and...er other regions of France. I know, I know, not super adventurous. I need to get out more.
Interests
weird tattoos
(I don't have any, don't get all excited)
um.
writing (microfiction/short stories, other prose, poetry, essays... )
politics, current events, debating them (NICELY, don't get all up in my grill!)
dancing/music (all forms, but most recently: contra dancing, country line dancing, polka, other forms of ballroom...oh and of course the elektro-pop-disco-house-mashup crazy club booty shaking variety)
fashion: totally obsessed with vintage clothes, eclectic looks, bright colors, sequins, layering, wearing silk dresses with boots and being like WHAT. this looks hot you know it! so boho fresh old school new school act a fool as long as you make it yours.
all visual artistic endeavors and happenings (sculpture, performance art, painting, drawing, especially portraiture - lately I've been exploring the question: the modern artist's predicament - are we creating art or simply recording it? if we see a moment that we feel is "artistic" and capture it, say on video, is the art then the 8mm tape, or the event itself? Is the art the happening in time, or the "artist's" record? This question has always existed, but it is more obvious the more accurate and convenient our technology becomes.)
oh yeah, and I do digital graphics, photoshop, dabbled in some video, played around with different design software; I'm trained in autoCAD but rarely whip out those skills.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
This is a great question I'd love to put some time into sometime when I feel more inspired.
(Oh hold up, it could be like the mtv NEXT bus popups! If you know what i'm talking about you're probably my hero)
Teach, Learn, Share
Can someone teach me how to dry out a book after it's been left out in the rain?
In exchange, I can teach you:
-how to pimp out your computer.
- obscure things about literature, literary theory, postcolonial theory, and everything else stuffed in my brain as an undergraduate. w00t!
- all about the dharma and being buddhist. okay, SOME.
Oh, and I can FIGHT REAL GOOD TOO! I'm a kickboxer. got any bullies on your back? soo yesterday's problem, when I'm around.
Aussi, je parle un peu francais...um. not that you need to learn that, if I'm visiting you in france. I can ditch the anglais and only speak french with my couchsurfing hosts. I realize this profile is not a testament to that.
