My name is Alexander Fortier, but I mostly go by Alex. I'm from southeast Wisconsin and that has practically been where I've lived throughout my life. I've been to two other states: Illinois and Minnesota, but would like to see more.

I have great interests in literature, politics (nuanced and critical analysis), architecture, history (especially the European Enlightenment), some experience with philosophy, and I do a lot of writing on social issues and politics. If any of those subjects are interesting to you then I can converse on those types of subjects at length.

Other stuff to know: I've recently finished HS, and in college would like to major in political science, though I also have an interest in things like journalism.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I would like to see more of the world, whether that is architecture, culture, cuisine, people, cities, landscapes, et cetera... to talk to interesting people, to have adventures, to sightsee, to learn... And I'd also maybe like to offer that to those wanting to learn more about southeastern Wisconsin, to have fun, and explore the glorious thing that is our home, Earth.

Music: Listen to all genres, but my heart is in rock, rap, and nu metal. My favorite bands are Disturbed, System of a Down, and Rage Against the Machine.

Teach, Learn, Share

Some random stuff:

I always carry a book with me for whenever there is downtime.
I can't sing, but mess around for fun.
I'm usually quite a chill person and introverted, but when in the company of people that I am comfortable and familiar with I can become quite extroverted.
I consider exercise to be important even if I can never maintain a schedule. I enjoy jogging and sports like football. Outdoor activities like catch are often fun.
I enjoy exploring and getting lost in adventure, looking at new environments, walking the street and finding stuff I haven't seen before. Always curious, l am always learning.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can't claim to be funny, but if you want to hear some dark humor, absurdist humor, self-deprecation, or esoteric jokes then I can be quite hilarious. Once I get going the better and more absurd the jokes may get.

Imagination and creativity always makes life more interesting, because of the types of adventures possible to make. I also enjoy creating stories, and playing tabletop games and board games.

I'm not a good cook by any means, but I know how to make some good scrambled eggs.
