About Me

I have been living in Dallas the last five years since moving from Seattle, WA. I am a geologist by trade and work for a private oil company here for now.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I consider myself to be a pro couch surfer despite my limited use of the service. I am a gracious host and don't mind showing some surfers around town or helping them along the way.

I myself am a rambler and find myself last second throwing my rucksack together and jet setting to some foreign locale all too often. In my desire to keep things under budget and also have the best experience I wish to stay within the community. Past travels have always been hindered by the lack of knowledge of the small things and that is what matters most at the end of the journey!

Interests

I enjoy cooking great meals both inspired by northwestern and southern cuisine. In fact sometimes I have the habit of taking things a little to far and hosting full on dinner parties. Oh well, such is my favorite thing in life; sharing stories and experiences over good food in great company.

Music, Movies, and Books

Just finished reading 'Wild' by Cheryl Strayed not too long ago. Has me hooked on the idea of my next adventure.

I like to be on top of the music scene in Dallas, a great tour stop for American tours. I have also been slowly building a vinyl library which I have come to appreciate so much over the last year. Rock n Roll, Jam bands, Funk, Soul, Jazz and Reggae. It's an eclectic combination of sounds that I enjoy but it all comes down to appreciating the music and the artist.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

On a detour from a previous field expedition I befriended the elder citizens of town of Seui in the Genargentu mountains of Sardegna, Italy. After being invited to the town celebration of their patron saint, I was hosted by the town at their local church where we slaughtered and cooked wild pig and sang traditional songs with the local choir. Late into the night I talked with the men of the town where we discusses everything from the origins of their traditions to where they thought the next generations of Seui children would go and how things may change. By the end of the night they laughably claimed me as their mayor for week and they guided me along the next leg of expedition through their backyards.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Extremely handy, I've been known to fix a plumbing or hardware issue from time to time when the neighbor knocks.

Skilled chef, would love to cook with or for any host
