About Me

My name is Alexander Lotz and I have grown up on Long Island for my first 23 years of life. I love the outdoors, I am an avid mountain biker and kayaker, I love deep and questioning thought and conversation, and connecting on a spiritual level with the people I get to know well. I have many skills and character traits to offer, like being hard working, physically able and motivated, artistically and photographically inclined. I see myself as a confident, outgoing, personable and charming human who will go to great lengths to help others and see to their needs. If you are willing to offer your home to those who want to experience the place you live, I have to be ready to compensate any way I can. I have traveled around the east coast of the US and to Utah, Costa Rica, and France, which have all made me eagerly desire more. I have experience with childcare, as well as dealing with the public in two waitstaff positions, running a family machine shop business with my father, and being in a conservation corps for a year in communal living settings. I hope you see my eagerness to experience what your home town has to offer as a sign of true and honest intentions, and my love for people and places as a signal of hope.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like artist such as... Mighty Oaks, John Butler Trio, Dave Matthews, SOJA, and any chill indie/ska/reggae/folk.... I don't watch much TV but one of my favorite movies is Good Will Hunting. I am a reader of mostly spiritual and self help books.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My proudest accomplishment is going on an outward bound trip to Utah, where I went white water rafting and backpacking for over 2 weeks down the Colorado River. Being with a small group of humans made me realize how skewed our perception of reality is when we have the comforts of home. We were self sufficient, contained, and made it through class 4 rapids with no prior experience and no incidents. Going through the rapids was the highlight of my life. I wouldn't change my experience for the world.

Teach, Learn, Share

"For my part, I travel not to go anywhere, but to go. I travel for travels sake. The great affair to move; to feel the needs and hitches of our life more nearly; to come down off this feather-bed of civilization, and find the globe granite underfoot and strewn with cutting flints." -Robert Louis Stevenson
