About Me

Hi,

I'm Alexander Mastenbroek, a 22 year-old student from Groningen in The Netherlands. I am currently in the stage of leaving Groningen and moving to Glasgow for a master programme. I am probably one of the most enthousiastic and outgoing persons that I know. I like a lot of things, from being active in nature, for example going hiking or rafting, to enjoying more cultural pursuits like wine-tasting or going to a museum.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Personally, I thrive when I am in contact with other people. As such, I joined couchsurfing in the proces of moving to Glasgow in order to meet new people. I used couch surfing before, with a friend (using her account, so that's why I am joining just now) in Mexico. The people I met were amazing, and I would like to have these types of experiences more often.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite type of music is progressive rock, leaning towards the heavier side of the spectrum. Especially Dream Theater and Porcupine Tree tickle my fancy. However, I am very broad in my musical taste, as I tend to enjoy more orchestral types of music, electronic music (especially Drum and Bass and melodic house) and the punkier side of classic rock.

For films, I am again quite broad in my taste, but I am very fond of films that surprise me, with a twist. Like Fight Club or Gone Girl. The more epic types of films are also very enjoyable for me, like The Lord of The Rings.

With books, I tend to gravitate towards the genres of historic fiction and fantasy, depending on my mood. But I can also thoroughly enjoy non-fiction.
