About Me

I'm a writer and a storyteller. I travel when I can, but even when in and around my home I'm always trying to find new people to talk to. I'm confident in all social situations, and easy going when it comes to change. I can easily capture the attention of a room with a good tale, or be happy sitting on a seat near a window reading a good book. Writing is my passion, and meeting others is the greatest inspiration there is. I love going for long walks through cities and mountains, exploring the world by foot. I don't like GPS, and I always talk to strangers.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm preparing to travel to Ireland for a month to wander a bit, meet some new folks, and take some quiet time away from my normal life as I transition from one career to the next. I'm a firm believer in the fact that the best sites and most amazing places aren't found through a Google search. The real way to get to know a place is to get to know it's people. With any luck I can form some lasting bonds with the scenery and some new friends, and maybe make Ireland a home away from home for when I need to get some quiet time and write.

I'd also like to open up my apartment in Vermont to others passing through, as it's only proper I return the favor. I'm interested in meeting good people, passionate people, artists and makers, lovers of life. I am an open soul, and hope to meet other like minded wanderers.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music - Mostly folk, singer songwriter stuff, solo work or indie bands, as well as jazz and composed scores. I'm really down for anything.

Movies - Way too many to list. Give me a classic film, a comedy, or a thoughtful drama any day. *May or may not get scared of horror films

Books - (So many) Aleph by Paulo Coelho, Naked by David Sedaris, Tenth of December by Gorge Saunders, Walden by Henry David Thoreau. Confederacy of Dunces by O'Toole. Anything by Anais Ninn, Henry Miller, Jack Kerouac, Hunter S. Thompson, Thich Nhat Hanh. So many others. Too many to list.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I spent some time working in Juvenile Prisons and Rehabs in Australia. It was tough work, but extremely rewarding. I've also been nominated for a Pushcart Prize for my poetry, and have had my poetry and short stories published numerous times. I've written a number of front page newspaper stories, and once held a spider monkey in a Manhattan hotel room.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm a communicator, and I want to sit for dinner and share stories. I want to learn and listen, and relate anything I can.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I have a good work ethic, and enough stories to keep you entertained. Also (in case I'm not in a total performance mode) I'm a kind guy who writes passionately so even when I'm in the other room typing away it's sending positive, productive energy into the space.
