ABOUT ME

UPDATE [ Nov. 5th 2012 ]

HELLO ALL!!

Well, the last few days have been incredibly exciting and filled with new experiences! I got in to New Orleans midday Friday and hit the French Quarter immediately. I grabbed a beer and gave the area a quick once over to get acquainted. The Big Easy was getting real busy due to rush our on a friday so I definitely felt the big city vibe. Next was to jump on the web and scramble for the local hostel. *TIP: the Shops at Canal Street have free wifi* Luckily they had a few beds left at the AAE Bourbon Street Hostel :) The place is well kept by the great staff and I highly recommend it.

Turns out the hostel was still whirling from the Halloween partying a couple nights before, so the guests that were staying there were ready to hit the town again.

Started at "The Saint", a great dive bar in the Garden District just off Magazine St. The Juke box there has an incredible selection like Wire / The Modern Lovers / Clash / Bowie / Roxy Music nothing but awsomeness! Took the bus back to the French Quarter and walked Bourbon Street all the way down to Frenchman, where the bands were blaring and the people getting wild!

One night there and headed out early to Austin, TX

Austin is a fantastic city well tucked away in the middle of Texas.

Actually I'll elaborate a little more tomorrow, gotta go

UPDATE PLEASE READ!! [ Nov. 1st 2012]

Alright!! so i'm still new to this network and realize that many members are pretty close knit and tend to have certain expectations from new members.

i would like to start by thanking all the members who have responded promptly even if they were not able to host me this time around, completely understandable since i have been contacting people last minute.

So far the advice they've provided in their responses will be helpful through New Orleans and Austin, AWSM!! we'll see how it goes between Austin and Los Angeles!!

I have sent many request in the last couple days since it was an impromptu road trip but I hope I don't come off as insincere or uninterested in getting to know members { i'm still a newbie!}

A couple of seasoned members have responded suggesting that I read the profiles thoroughly and personalize my request. I know they're right and i just want to make clear that i DO read the profiles and have been attempting to contact as many surfers as possible due to the amount of cities i plan on visiting and the fact that i'm on the road already!! WOOO HOOOO! (the weather is fantastic in the pan handle today!) Personalizing all of them would take a lot of time but i understand how mass requests may come off these days.

I will try the suggestions given when it comes to my future requests, which i'll be doing today, and hope for a fruitful and enlightening experience on the following 90% of the road trip. I'll keep updating my profile and should be getting some references sooon!!

Thought i'd put it out there... ;) please feel free to leave comments or ideas regarding this "About Me".

Reliable, exuberant, comical, positive, haha an array of other nice things I would think :) Rock Climbing has been a sport I've been interested in getting involved with, as-well-as long board surfing in the pacific. dabble in community yoga, a so-so cook.

PHILOSOPHY

The will of man is an exquisite tool to create and unify. Although our realities consist of many circumstances, influences, and parameters we are in control of driving ourselves to meet small and large goals in the bigger picture of life. Such an interesting and unique experience we each have and how lucky we are to be able to share them in so many ways these days.

Music, Movies, and Books

Catching up on my reading, currently getting through Marshall McLuhans' opus "Understanding Media: The Extensions of Modern Man". Also just borrowed the I Ching which centers on the ideas of the dynamic balance of opposites, the evolution of events as a process, and acceptance of the inevitability of change. My buddy had it on his shelve, he's travelling too.

Music: Broadcast, A Tribe Called Quest, Roxy Music, Judy Nylon, David Bowie, Wire, Nas, The Tuss, Aphex Twin, AFX, George Friedrich Handel, Beethoven, The Cramps uhhmm.... a whole lot more.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The winding drive from the Capital of Chile to Valparaiso was really captivating. Starting with hours of mountainous road and then encountering the Pacific Ocean for the first time was astounding!! Excellent memory. Roaming around Germany solo in 2002 was enlightening and solidified my confidence in the kindness of people, wonderful country.

Teach, Learn, Share

Looking forward to learning how to rock climb. Will spend time training in distance cycling, possibly get competitive soon?. Most definitely get a handle on surfing, I'll start with a long board.

Countries I’ve Visited
