About Me
Hey there!
My name is Alex. I was born in Khabarovsk, Russia and have lived there for the first 16 years of my life, until I graduated from high school. A month after graduating I've moved to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for a year to study in college. Upon graduating college I've moved again, this time to Gold Coast, Australia, finished a bachelor degree and managed to get an Australian citizenship soon after. I have lived in Australia ever since and I'm proud to call Australia my new home. :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I like to travel and meet likeminded people. I often travel alone, so Couch Surfing helps me make new friends along the way.
Interests
I love sports (my favorite being ice hockey, snowboarding, cycling & running), working out, eating healthily and spending time outdoors (hiking, camping and all that good stuff). I don't smoke and try my best not to drink, despite the constant pressure from my friends to do so. :) I also enjoy reading about anything to do with science, philosophy and psychology. Basically I like taking care of my mind & body. I am also an IT geek at heart and enjoy coding, gadgets and all things IT. :)

Music, Movies, and Books
My musical tastes fluctuate all the time, so I don't have clear favorites. I enjoy listening to rap, electronic, house, classical or instrumental music, depending on my mood and/or setting. Currently I listen to a lot of chill electronic summer tunes. The kind of stuff you'd wanna listen to, while driving in a car along the coastline at sunset on a warm summer evening, with car windows rolled down and warm ocean breathe hitting your face.. :)
I am a movie junkie and watch a lot of movies, so can't remember all of my favourite ones off the top of my head, but here are a few that I'd gladly re-watch any time: Mr. Nobody, Into The Wild, Fight Club, Yes Man, The Bucket List, The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Big Lebowski, The Fountain.
In terms of books, I mainly read non-fiction & articles about science/psychology/philosophy, so I don't have many fiction books to offer. But here are a couple worth reading: Into The Wild by Jon Krakauer, Zen and The Art of Motorcycle Maintenance by Robert M. Pirsig, The Time Keeper by Mitch Albom & The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I wouldn't call it amazing, but rather "my favourite thing I've done" - it was traveling by car around Australia. I've driven all along the East coast of Australia from Great Barrier Reef in Cairns, QLD to Great Ocean Road near Melbourne, VIC. Best 2 trips of my life and I'll definitely repeat this adventure again someday. :)
