Ahoj! I am Alex, I grew up in a small but beautiful country in the heart of Europe and am currently living in the Netherlands. These days I am quite busy due to a new job but still have spare time in the weekends to explore bits and pieces of Rotterdam. I am cheerful, positive and love to see people smile. Fan of nature and feeling the world through all the senses.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I enjoy exploring places, not necessarily new and distant, simply places. Couchsurfing makes that easier and I get to meet and talk to people who I would most likely not cross paths with otherwise. And it makes me get out of my comfort zone a bit, which is mostly a good thing.

Interests

Drawing, swimming, riding my bike, parks, museums, cooking or baking or just food really, listening to people play music and tell stories, all kinds of sports.

I am fascinated by arts like woodworking and pottery. One day I want to have my own workshop where I do fun woodworking projects and design + build custom furniture. (hit me up if you do either of those and need a helping hand, I would love to learn!) Same with pottery.

Music, Movies, and Books

There is not one genre or type of music, literature or movie that I would prefer.

I loved the book Cloud Atlas and an autobiography from Rodney Mullen (I do not know anything about skateboarding as it is).

Movies like The Fall, Phantom Thread, Lost in Translation, Visages Villages, Princess Mononoke, Children of the Sea.

And music from Allah-Las, the Growlers, Pink Floyd, Sona Jobarteh and Danit... plus some classical music too.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Something I remember really fondly is my first solo bike touring trip. I recall how joyful, free and accomplished I felt! The people on the way were absolutely beautiful and inspired me to keep exploring the earth.
