About Me

I’m a German currently ‘work and travelling’ in Australia. 🏕
I used to only use Couch surfing for meeting people while I was travelling through Iceland, but I decided to now start using it for its initial purpose as well.

Travelling has taught me that I don’t need to follow the norm, that I can truly be myself (whoever that might be, I’m still trying to discover that) and that I don’t need to conform to societies norms.
It’s also taught me that I actually kind of like my home country, which I used to despise.
Most importantly it’s taught me to trust my gut- it has been right so many times when my mind was telling me it couldn’t be.

I don’t really have a life motto... there are way too many wise sayings to choose from. I guess one that I really like is “A ship in harbor is safe, but that is not what ships are built for.” - it just reminds me of the fact that I cannot be afraid to go after my dreams even though they might be waaaay out of my comfort zone.

Connecting with people is really fulfilling to me. I really love listening to people’s life stories, the lessons they’ve learned, the things they think about politics, the environment and other topics close to my heart. One of the things I love the most is when I see pure passion in somebodies eyes and although I have some things that I’m really passionate about like vegetarianism/veganism or animal welfare in general, some political issues like education, religion, empathy and society, my dearest wish is to some day find something I am beyond passionate about.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Mostly just for meeting new people, but recently I’ve been considering trying to actually find a place to stay as well.

Interests

I do some yoga and I love music -singing, playing the guitar and the ukulele and the piano, just anything. Apart from that I’m just very much into nature so hiking really is my favourite form of exploring places. And I love animals - love, love love them. I’m a vegetarian for that reason as well.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hiking in Landmannalaugar (Iceland) was absolutely mind-blowing! I did it without hiking shoes (it’s a five hour hike) and when I was on top of the mountain I nearly cried because I was so overwhelmed by the beauty of it.

But apart from that I’m just beyond grateful that I went abroad even though I was so scared of this experience when I was back home. Going out of my comfort zone is one of the best things I’ve ever done!

Teach, Learn, Share

I play the guitar and the ukulele (both self-taught) and I’ve had 11 years of piano lessons.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Experiences, a good time, maybeeee some cooking if I’m feeling reckless haha (it goes wrong whenever I try to cook for people and not only for myself, but I make hella good summer rolls!). And I can maybe teach you a card game (Learned some on my travels here).

I just want to talk heaps and get to know people, I want to learn from their experiences and hear different sides of the story for every issue.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Croatia, Germany, Iceland, Italy, Spain, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In
