About Me

In my very humble opinion, I am God.

Nah jk, I'm friendly, responsible and open-minded, I'm not the most extroverted of people but I'm working on that. With the risk of making you think "pft, that's what everyone says", I think I'm pretty serious and mature for my age, I mean... that's what my mom says atleast ahah. I care for and respect other people's belongings (because I hate making people annoyed) so you don't have to worry about me being messy in your home.

I love love love animals, especially cats (hence my photos). I enjoy hanging out, going for aperitivo with my friends, walking round and about... yeah, I guess I like to be outdoors a lot but I also like being alone at home and binge watching some series. I also have a thing for roofs and canals/rivers. If there's a particularly nice roof/canal/river hang out place in your city, pleeeease do tell me about it!

Warning: Please, if you are racist/sexist/homophobic/islamophobic, keep your opinions to yourself around me.

I was born and raised in Shumen, Bulgaria. I moved to Briare, France when I was 12 years old and now I'm studying Architectural Design in Milano. I haven't travelled that much so I don't have a lot of interesting and amazing stories to share :(

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Visiting a city and staying in a hotel/hostel/airbnb is one thing. Yes, I guess you can meet a lot of interesting and nice people in hostels, and also in Airbnb you can be in touch with a local who can show you around and tell you about their city.
I still haven't couchsurfed that much but in my opinion, visiting a city and couchsurfing is a whole other thing. The fact that a person is open and generous enough to welcome someone in their private home in order to connect with new and interesting people, is very important and valuable to me. I think it shows a lot about the host - and that's the type of person I want to be in contact with when I visit a new city. Somebody who will treat me and who I can treat like a friend, who can tell me about their city, country, culture and adventure, so I can tell them about mine.

Music, Movies, and Books

My music taste is very very flexible and depends on my mood. I mean what I've been listening to this weeks is a mix of Frank Ocean, Die Antwoord, Sufjan Steven, Lewis del Mar, some bulgarian chalga (i'll show you what it is, foreigners find it quite shocking sometimes) and some jazz playlists on spotify for when I'm working. I had a weird techno phase last year too but that was short lived ahah

I used to watch a lot of movies but lately I've been more into series. I love love love mockumentaries such as Parks and Rec and The Office, but I also enjoy more serious stuff like Black Mirror or Handmaid's Tale. I just finished Arrested Development, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, halfway through Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and I just started Mad Men.

Concerning books, I haven't really had that much time to read this past year, with uni and all... but I'm currently reading Tyutyun by Dimitur Dimov, a bulgarian classic and Chéri by Colette. The last books I read were Goodbye to Berlin by Isherwood, Ecstasy by Irwine Welsh, and I've been trying to finish Lolita for such a long time but I can't keep up with Nabokov's writing style.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hitch hiked randomly across Bulgaria with some friends, had no idea where we were, found the most beautiful small canyon with a lake, camped in tents there and nearly died of fear during the night because we could hear some animals outside our tents.

Might not sound that amazing, but hey, I'm easily impressed.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can open a bottle of wine with nothing but my shoe and a wall.
Yep, pure skill that I'm willing to pass on to anyone.

What I Can Share with Hosts

uhhh fun stories? bulgarian recipes? a crash course in balkan mentality?
