About Me

CURRENT MISSION

See and learn about the world one day at a time.

ABOUT ME

It's difficult to self-analyze when you see yourself in one manner and others can perceive you in another. I'm sure once we meet, you'll be able to derive for yourself! I'm independent, creative, and adaptable- if I'm not traveling or creating an adventurous tone in my life, then I don't feel quite fulfilled or challenged.

Speaking of challenges, I'm starting grad school and simultaneously traveling! I want a "career" (read as: something that pays the bills) that encourages travel (and ideally on someone else's dime) where I will actually feel content knowing that I am doing meaningful work. My primary goals in life are to travel, write, take pictures, and learn as many languages as I can. I'd also like to help educate people on the way their actions effect the planet and how her increased responses are in part due to human impact.

I am a lifelong learner. I can read a book in a classroom and learn something, but I'd prefer to be out in the world learning and living through experience.

I'm laid back, spontaneous, and love to get out and try new things. I love to meet new people and experience new things. I love history, geology, geography, ANYTHING international (people, food, ideas, etc.) I love airports. I love people watching. I love to get on a bus and get off in a new part of town and check it out on foot. I am discovering that you miss so many things when you drive a car.

I have moved many, many times and have learned that there is always some way to connect with another person. People are only strangers as long as you let them be.

PHILOSOPHY

Viaggiare é vivere = To travel is to live (in Italian) I just FINALLY got my tattoo with this philosophy. What is life without travel? Or adventure? Or learning? Or people with whom to share memories?

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have been hosting since January 2009 and plan on continuing the hosting! I try and tell others about just how wonderful CS is and how the people you meet will make you really think and further inspire the beauty of travel.

I'm also an advocate of CS meet-ups- meetings make you aware of your community and attending meetings whilst traveling opens doors, creates memories, and connects you to the pulse of travelers you may have never known otherwise

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've done a little surfing, but more hosting. I did some surfing during my six weeks in Europe- meeting some people who have already transitioned into friends! My European hosts were wonderful and I look forward to getting situated at some point so I can host more!

Interests

Traveling, writing, photography, learning new languages, geology, music, movies, sports/outdoor activities, cycling, cultivating my own food, meeting new people, trying new things, learning-(both in school and out), living life and getting the most out of it.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My month-long trip to Bogotá (and Bucaramanga), Colombia was the most amazing thing I've done in my life. I saw so many things, and met so many great, hospitable people. I think about my trip everyday, and I realize that Colombia has become a part of me. I hope to see the world and have an awesome experience in each country I visit

Teach, Learn, Share

Just graduated conventional university with a degree in Liberal Studies, embarking on a Masters for the next couple years. I'm studying Spanish, German, French, Danish, and Italian on my own and through my travels. I like to get out in the world and make that my classroom. I would like to teach English overseas or any sort of international teaching.

Belize, Colombia, Costa Rica, France, Germany, Honduras, Italy, Laos, Malaysia, Mexico, Mongolia, Nicaragua, Philippines, South Korea, Thailand, Viet Nam
