Hola, everyone!

I'm Alexandra, a pleasure! I'm from Guatemala, living in the country's city and traveling as much as possible. I've lived in Guatemala my whole life and spent more than 4 months studying in Rome and around Italy. I travel often to California since I've got family there, it's home away from home. I'm fluent in Spanish, English and Italian - looking forward to learning another language soon.

I love traveling (I guess all of the people here have that in common)! Specially when I've got a purpose behind it like attending a course, work or something of the like because it allows me not only to expand my general knowledge but to connect with locals. I've created incredible friendships this way! Other than traveling, I enjoy doing yoga (been doing so for around 4 years) and outdoor sports, reading fiction novels, doing crafts or anything related with art and sewing, spending time with my chosen humans and cats. Love love love the ocean! If there's a beach I'm there as soon as possible (even if it's cold). I'm a certified scuba diver and have tried (without success) to surf (ha!). What else? Oh, of course... Work!

I graduated as a Fashion Designer back in 2015 and been working within the design industry since then. Not just as a designer but as a sales manager, brand strategist, communications and media manager, textile manipulator, fashion illustration teacher and now...I'm currently working as a Fundraising Campaign Strategist at an environmental NGO, coordinating the Fashion Revolution movement in Guatemala, advocating for social and environmental justice within the fashion industry and teaching a sustainable fashion course in one of design academies in the country.

I'm an open hearted, friendly person - both introverted and extroverted (if that's possible, ha!). I laugh a lot and believe in sharing that laughter and joy with the people I encounter.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love traveling and connecting directly with locals is always a benefit! Not only because they are the best people to get recommendations from (most of the time) but also because you never know where you can find an incredible friend! I've heard about the benefits of joining the community from multiple friends: meeting interesting people, getting incredible recommendations and of course, saving money! (woop)

I'm currently not hosting a place because I'm on the move but looking forward to being able to open an accommodation in the near future.

Music, Movies, and Books

Some people might not like this answer but I've got no favorites - at least non that I can think about at the moment but I can definitely share what I enjoy:

- Music -
Depends on the mood. I listen to music that brings joy to my day or that enhances whatever I'm feeling at the moment. I do listen to a lot of latin music (I'm latin after all! ha), indie, r&b, rock (70s - 80s), adore acoustic music. I listen to whatever I'm in the mood for, basically. Live music will definitely be a: hell yeah!

- Movies -
Romance, suspense and terror, feel good movies (for sure!), honestly enjoy documentaries and anything related to the Marvel and Star Wars universe.

- Books -
I'm a bookworm. Been reading since I was 11 years old.
I read non-fiction when I need to learn something related to what I'm doing or studying. Other than that... I mostly read fiction and fantasy novels because for me to read is to use imagination and imagine other worlds and realities. I love getting lost in a book and falling in love with the characters.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Lots of laughter, stories, good conversations (I love listening and talking about anything and everything!), openness and flexibility. I'm an easy going person, feeling safe and comfortable and making my host feel that from me as well is my main priority. I'm definitely organize and would definitely be helpful around the house. I'd only expect initial communication to be aware of what's also expected from me as a guest.
