About Me
CURRENT MISSION is to explore and test my boundaries.
"How vain it is to sit to write when you have not stood up to live" -HDThoreau
2016 (and 17!) are years of adventure for me, I quit my job in March '16 with savings and hiked a bit over half of Appalachian trail, which is an ongoing project I'll finish in sections. I've taken the hiking bug with me overseas, to a few months in Tasmania and a few more in New Zealand where the TA kicked my rear and sent me home to recover. Next up is Switzerland to visit a trail family, and Scotland because it's beautiful!
ABOUT ME
I am an incredibly social person, and get a lot of energy from meeting new people.
I'm passionate, introspective and love meaningful discussions about our world. My engineering education tends to lead me to prying into why things work, but I temper that with an artistic and creative background as well.
PHILOSOPHY
I jump into new experiences and challenges with both feet, and most turn out well. Kayak water polo was probably the most fun way to spend an afternoon ever.
I work really hard at being positive, and surround myself with positive people.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I host whenever I'm stable so I can live vicariously though other travelers, both officially on CS and through informal networks.
Right now I'm homeless, and want to barter stories for floor space!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Most of my couch surfing and hosting is done through friends of friends, but I love this site which allows us all to step further away from our networks!
Mostly I've used this site to get to know people in Greenville SC when I moved there, but now I'm on the brink of world travel and excited to meet you!
Interests
I love being active outdoors with others, hiking and camping. I love reading, painting and collage. I like figuring out how things work, solving problems and constructive projects. Above all else I love meeting people and hanging out with friends.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I love being exposed to different communities, and I really caught the travel bug over the summer when I spent six weeks studying Mech E in Hangzhou, China. Hiking Yellow Mountain (Huangshan) was definitely a highlight.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm a collector of random factoids, especially science/tech. I make a mean quiche, and I'd love to show you how to make sculptures out of masking tape and newspaper. I might be a jill-of-all-trades.
What I Can Share with Hosts
In a past world I think I would have made a great storytelling Bard.
