I was a writer in residence in Pula, Croatia. Getting up every morning to write on the porch, with a view of paradise...wonderful.

"Do not practice art alone, but penetrate to her heart--she deserves it." Right now I'm wholly devoted to poetry, and exploring how other arts relate. For instance, linking to the Beethoven quote--how does the bedrock of composition, the theme and variations, translate to poetry? How can a poet compose the equivalent of a Van Gogh painting? What's the real, organic rhythm of the English language, as opposed to, say, Russian? I can teach you some (very) rudimentary Russian, by the way, if you like.

I'm a good cook! Also, if you like, I can write poetry for you on the spot, on any topic, in less than seven minutes. That's always fun.
