About Me

ABOUT ME

Me, I’m singing,
Me, I’m ridding
To the place where dreams are hiding.

My friends say I am creative, curious and responsible. I have a good sense of humor and enjoy laughing. For me it’s cool when people have smth to talk about – and huge when they can laugh together. In a singing company I can sing till the end of times.

I am an editor. I make books, mostly medical. Have edited russian versions of several guides by Lonely Planet – about USA, France, Cyprus and Barcelona – they are great. And some prose. I love books by my very soul and believe in good literature.
In free time I make knitted stuff – my passion is irish crochet. It’s gorgeous! Also I sing in a choir and play guitar a little bit.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe in the best. And in orange color)
I find inspiration in people, good song, far-away worlds (astronomy and reading help me with that fairly well))), bright colours.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I hope to see the life of people from other countries and feel their culture from the inside. To share with them my poind of view on the world or to discuss differencies between green and black tea (= To argue about time travelling. To laugh to the sun. To get a chance to really broad my mind and give something to other people in return. New songs, books, thoughts or dreams (=

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I guess the very main idea I got is about taking people as they are and being open to other peoples' way of living and interests. It was never clear from the begining how to behaive with all this new people. And it turned out extremely great to meet them as they were and be as I can be with my friends.
It was much more better than you can expect from an actual stranger.

Have travelled with two my friends around Spain cost and a bit into the country.
We learned about spanish english teachers' lifes in Barca with Kristen and his joufull friend Nora and met there an american girl who lived travelling around the world.

We have stayed in Sagunto and tried to approve oru zero level spanish with our host Sergio and had great time together at semi-safe bullfight -- without fight. Night, open cages for people and beautifull bulls -- who are neither touched nor killed.

Spoke semi-english or sign language with Miguel who was extrimely kind to host us -- although he didn't know english and we didn't know spanigh at all. Learned about a cool greak poet from him. Had long walks and went to a spanish dance show.

Met extraorginary multicultural muslim family near Kordoba. Walked with an english girl, a wife of one of the son's, miles to a castle discussing history and russian tzars.

People, I love you.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: Strugatsky brothers, Ursula Le Guin, Lem, Sheckley, Bradbury, Joan Rowling and others. Science. Poetry.
Music: choral music, some of rock and folk-rock.
Movies: Ku! Kin-dza-dza; Daria; The Man from Earth; Dead Poets Society; K-Pax.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One year ago our choir has participated in the World choir games.

It was wonderful experience of being a part of huge intercultural community where everybody was connected to each other by music. People sang in every street and square of Riga, strangers greeted you and wished good luck. Concerts, walks, folk costumes and stories about other worlds – I am happy I sang with our choir and I was a small part of it.

It was huge. Imagine - your body and your soul are full of music. You go to bed and hear in your head horns, bravura horns. I hope i will never forget how it felt and sounded.
