READING
-theory and philosophy more than fiction
-"On Truth and Lying in an Extramoral Sense" by Nietzsche
-"Being and Time" by Heidegger
"In some remote corner of the universe, poured out and glittering in innumerable solar systems, there once was a star on which clever animals invented knowledge. That was the highest and most mendacious minute of "world history"—yet only a minute. After nature had drawn a few breaths the star grew cold, and the clever animals had to die."
-Nietzsche
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I'm sure there are plenty of stories that would sound amazing if we talked about them out loud, like when I got to be a part of an angry mob, but I can't think of anything that would compare with my family.
-My aunt is a choreographer, and when she was younger, for extra cash, she would perform singing telegrams. She also ran away with the circus and could do splits on the tightrope
-My mom has a trophy in trap shooting, was a great water skier, and hopped into the back of a strange boy's minivan at my age to go on tour with him across the country
-My grandma marched for peace with Gandhi, tap-danced on roller skates, sang on the radio, and burned the slave-papers she received in her inheritance. When she heard my liberally-raised mother and aunt speculate that racism wasn't that prevalent, she put everyone in the car and drove them across the country to her home town to make them look at segregation with their own eyes (the line that split the city and separate water fountains and entrances/exits)
-My maternal grandpa was a paratrooper in WWII and did 4 combat jumps, including Battle of the Bulge and D-day
I guess my amazing thing is that I come from a pretty rock n' roll family.
Teach, Learn, Share
-share my knowledge of English (it's my job, too, so you can trust me)
-teach you how to crochet or speak remedial French
-trade vegan recipes or other recipes I've acquired in my travels!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I'm not sure what my hosts will want from me, but like I mentioned above, I can share my English-teaching skills!
