ABOUT ME

Hi, my name is Alex! I am a 23 year old studying to be an elementary school teacher in Peterborough, Ontario. I recently graduated with my degree in Classical and Near Eastern Archaeology. I'm easy going and get along with the majority of people I meet. I love sharing a beer or two with good people and getting to know all sorts of different people!

I do my best to help people out in tough spots, or just looking for someone to explore my city with! I'm often busy with school or work, but I will always try my best to help you out!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

The experience that made me love this website was when I was stranded in Nice, France due to a mixup in train schedules. Everything was booked solid, so I turned to couchsurfing for help. I met a young man who went completely out of his way to help me out! He took me in very late at night, drove me to the bus stop in the morning, and was very helpful and kind. I also hosted a great guy from Vancouver who was in town to put on a magic show at one of the universities. He ended up showing myself and my roommates a few of his tricks, which worked out great because it was my roommates birthday. I look forward to making a lot more memories from this website!

Interests

I am interested in a very wide range of things! Human history and archaeology are definitely at the top! I specifically love the Greeks and Romans. I am big on music, tv shows and movies as well. Our conversations are sure to jump all over the place (or at least I hope!). I also have a great desire to travel to as many places as I can, as I'm sure most other couchsurfers! England is next. :)

Music, Movies, and Books

I am a huge fan of Harry Potter, Star Wars, Indiana Jones and LOTR (books and movies to all that apply). I am a huge movie buff though so I enjoy a wide range of them! As for music, I tend to stick to the classics such as Zeppelin, Nirvana, RHCP, Floyd and Neil Young. I also love Brand New, Radiohead, White Stripes and various other bands. I'm a huge fan of all genres though, and would love to hear your taste in movies, music and books! I'm sure we'll find some similarities, no matter your taste!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have been to all the provinces in Canada (minus Newfoundland!) and have had some great experiences which I love to talk about!I have also studied abroad in Crete, Greece and traveled through Italy, Southern France, Spain and Iceland. Hopefully we can swap a few stories and make some new ones :)

Teach, Learn, Share

I tend to have very random knowledge about a wide range of subjects. However, I am very knowledgeable about Greco-Roman civilization and Canadian geography. While I'm not sure if you'd be interested in learning about that, it's something that I always enjoy talking about. :) I also have some Canadian stories, to those who aren't from around here.
