About Me
Hi I'm Alex!
I'm a Canadian born and partially raised in Toronto until my teenage years when my family relocated to Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates. I spent the years after high school in Vancouver, BC working on my undergraduate degree and bartending in some of Vancouver's best restaurants. After university I decided to move back to the Middle East for a few years to work as a flight attendant, save some money and travel the globe!
I have a huge passion for travel and grew up travelling a lot as my Dad is a pilot. I spent a lot of my childhood exploring the island of Trinidad where my family is from and that thirst for adventure has stuck with me in my adult years. In my current job I travel all over the world but there are still so many places I want to see!
I'm very new to Couchsurfing but became interested after hearing lots of great reviews from friends. I'm drawn to alternatives to staying in hotels like Airbnb and Couchsurfing because of the possibility of meeting new friends and having more of a local's view of a city. I spend most of my time solo travelling so any method that can help me make new connections is appreciated!
In my personal time I try to take advantage of my ticket discounts to do even more travelling. The top places still on my list to visit are: Japan, Bordeaux, Philippines, Northern Spain and Costa Rica. I also have a huge passion for wine and would like to become a Sommelier one day. Craft beer, good food, conversation and music are also some of my favourite things.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm on Couchsurfing to hopefully make some new friends/connections around the globe. I wish that I could host guests as well but am unable due to my current living arrangement.

Music, Movies, and Books
There are just too many out there to say but I tend to like electronic music of any sort and movies/books of the fantasy genre.
I also appreciate a good video game.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Swam with my best friend in bioluminescent waters off the coast of a small Cambodian island.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can share my passion for travel as well as my experiences from travelling the world. I make a mean cocktail, love cooking for people, entertaining and sharing stories. I'm also super easy going and open minded, always willing to hear a new opinion or perspective.
I was raised to be a polite and considerate guest when staying in someone's home. I will help out any way I can and can even bring gifts from my latest travels!
