About Me

My greatest loves in life include- food, visiting new places, great movies, hanging with friends while having fun or having meaningful conversations. I'm addicted to searching out new places, both home and abroad. It's my life goal to visit somewhere new once a month, even if it's just a new restaurant, while leaving my state once a year. After my Asian trip, my tastes buds have greatly expanded. I am now a firm believer of trying (almost) anything at least once. I've surprised myself countless times in doing so.

I grew up in a small town in Oregon, essentially the shire of the United States. I went to Community College in the state capitol of Salem and then moved on to get my bachelor's degree in history, with minors in architecture history and geography at the University of Oregon (Go Ducks!) in Eugene. After working a couple years, I've returned to school for architectural drafting with the possibility of becoming a licensed architect in the distant future on my mind.

I'm not a fan of 80 plus degree (Fahrenheit) weather, but also haven't had much experience with snow. The Pacific Northwest is the ideal place for me.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've made many international friends while in the dorms at university, and while studying abroad in New Zealand. I have unofficially couch surfed with those friends in several countries, and thought it would be a great idea to expand my experiences and network, all while seeing new places. If I can help those that ever visit my city, then so much the better!

Interests

My interests/hobbies largely include movies, books and games. Currently, I have two passions; architecture and good stories, mainly nerdy and British ones. As for video games, I mainly like the story based ones like Horizon Zero Dawn and Tomb Raider. I played sports in high school, but am not an avid follower today.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm a nerd. I love good stories, mainly in movies or a good book (I like visuals, hence part of the need to travel). Favorites include; Doctor Who, LotR, Star Wars, Marvel movies, Supernatural, Harry Potter, Firefly and on and on. As for music, I'm mainly a classic rock and alternative fan, but can listen to most everything. Instrumental music is always pleasing as well. I wish I had more time for reading, but I mainly like historical fiction, or loosely based (like Game of Thrones).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I traveled through northern Europe for 9 weeks on my own and had a life changing time.

Teach, Learn, Share

I've spent the last several years in a college town, and got my bachelor's degree in history. I'm new to the Portland area myself as a resident, but have lived in the Willamette Valley my whole life. I'm a very practical person, and like to share advice with anyone who is willing, so that all may benefit.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I have some international travel experience, and like most of us on here, have grown up on a tight budget so I am able to handle finances well. I am willing to put in some elbow grease if it reduces my costs on anything.

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Canada, Denmark, England, Greece, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Scotland, Singapore, Sweden, Thailand, United States, Wales

Countries I’ve Lived In
