Overview
About Me
I'm very interested in people, how they see life, how they have fun, how they feel, how they think. For instance, I spent 6 weeks in Brasil last summer, learnt Portuguese beforehand, enough to have simple conversations in cosmopolitan Sao Paulo, in an Afro-brazilian rural community in Minas Gerais, with first nations up in the Amazon. Incredible encounters!
I really like the transgenerational transcultural experience.
In Japan, we got invited my partner Isabelle my children and I by an old Japanese couple in their house, on celebration day of the new emperor. We exchanged through ggtrad but managed to convey really deep thoughts and emotions. A wonderful day in my life.
That's the sort of thing I'd like to live again in my future trips: meeting people and getting to feel how they feel about things.
I'm going to London solo to see old friends, hang out and finish writing a novel.
Apart from that, I like music, art, books, beautiful nature, animals. I'm independent and can be out of your way if you need your space.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music is a central part of my life. I like jazz and classical music most of all.
But I can't resist good rock'n roll from the 70s, indy music from the 80s and 90s, good electro. And sometimes a bit of disco.
John Coltrane, Count Basie, Dizzy Gillespie
Everything by Johann Sebastian Bach.
I also love cinema. Rashomon by Kurosawa was a tremedous experience. But there are so many filmmakers I love: Kubrick, Fellini, Ozu, Casavetes, Scola etcetc
And books: I have to start with Crime and punishment by Dostoïevsky. The rest of the list would be too long, but Fitzgerald Joyce and Wilde would be on top of my list.
And I'm a philosophy teacher so I've spent many many hours in the writings by some of the most impressive minds of our common human race.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I stayed for 10 days in an Afro-brasilian community in Minas Gerais through a friend's family. Although they didn't have much money they were incredibly generous, offering lunch, dinner, a bed to sleep in with open hearts. I didn't know how to thank them. In the end I cooked a big French dinner and we invited all the families of the valley, had a big fire and drank a bit too much cachaça.
