About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I want to know what it really is to travel. To merge into another culture, to meet interesting people, and to live the stories I will later tell to my grandchildren!

ABOUT ME

Alexandre do Amaral is a very sociable person, polite, honest, with a good sense of humor, and someone who cares about the people around him. That is what my friends would say, I guess.
One important thing is: I am in a ongoing exchange program in Portugal since september/2011, for my university. It had been three or four years since I decided to do an one year exchange program in order to live the greatest experience in my life! Throughout all that time, I worked, I gathered money for it, I talked about, "day dreammed" about it, exhaustively. So, probably what they would say, before I came to Portugal: "A great guy, I hope he succeeds in his exchange project". And then after the exchange: "We're very happy for him, because he seens to be so proud of what he had done, and of all his new stories"

"Little by little, one travels far". (Tolkien)

PHILOSOPHY

I am a realistic person. Although I like to see the optimistic thoughts about our planet.

Once I heard the philosopher Osho say: "Life is not something to be explained, it is an experience to be lived". Maybe, all we have are questions to be lived, experienced. Answers may vary tremendously from one person to another. So, let it be, coexist... =]

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None. But I hope to have plenty very soon! =]

Interests

Getting to know different things, cultures, music, foods, are the things that makes e more excited about travelling. Especially music. Music wakes me up, gives me strenght. I am not a good guitar player, not a good harmonica player, nor a good singer, but I like to play music theese instruments so much, that I love spending my time with people enjoying music too.

As a law student, I find interesting to know the diferent realities of law in the world. Here in Portugal, I learnt that are new ways to treat complicated situations, such as abortion, murdering, eutanasia, fiscal issues, etc. My favorite discipline here is Direito Comunitário, wich is about the study of the European Law, and the phenomena of the protection of the rights of european citizens by the decisions of the European Court.

Also, talking about politics, environment, god, religion, sitcoms, movies, are things that makes me fell good. Although, talking shit, making jokes, and laughing my lungs out are the things I love the most when I am with my friends!

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: Lately, university books mostly! But sometimes I skim a page of some book about traveling, and sometimes I read some pages of a book about Vegetarianism (Wich I am not, but I am interested).

Music: I like lots of kinds of music. All that I find beautiful and made with love. Classical, baroque, rock, indie, bossa nova, flamenco, folk, celtic, etc.

Movies: The good ones. A lot of Documentaries lately. But i enjoy waching the bad ones sometimes too!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Coming to this place, thousands of miles away from home, living in a 24 m² room that I absolutely love to call home, is something to wonder. For me, a grear story already. And more: I have the opportunity to see Europe, I mean, my mother never travelled abroad, my father always wanted to see the whole world, my grandfather never left the south of Brazil. I never travelled further than 1500 kilometers far away from my home, in Balneário Camboriú (SC, south of Brazil). I have an awesome luck. I am not very religious, but I have to say that I have been blessed. Today, what I have is the sincere élan to one day send them to the wonderful places I have been (Berlin, Santiago de Compostela, Praga, London, and so on). I know, inside of me, that I will figure out how to do it, and also how to do all the things I want to see in this world!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can play the guitar and the harmonica (ten holes).
I will be very happy to give some tips, and to get some too!
