About Me
**CURRENTLY LIVING IN MY VAN, WON’T BE ABLE TO HOST YOU IN MONTREAL!**
Hello, nice to meet you! I'm a really easy going girl who loves to travel and meet new people. I am an open minded, respectful and curious person. My friends tell me my biggest quality is my positivity and my smile. I get along with everyone, and I love meeting new friends!
I love to be around people, but I enjoy being on my own too. Don't feel like you have to entertain me all the time and don't feel bad if you don't have a lot of free time to spend with me, I usually spend all my days alone with my cat (I work from home). I travel mostly solo, so I enjoy spending time on my own.
I come from a small village in Quebec, Canada, but I've been living in Montreal for over 6 years now. I try to travel as much as I can! I enjoy every little things and I'm always willing for a new adventure.
I'm a full-time freelancer. I work remotely for clients in Canada, so that allows me to travel anywhere, anytime. I spend a lot of hours in café and coworking places all over the world!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To meet new friends! When I travel, I love to connect with locals who can show me the highlights of the city, and with travelers to explore the city together. When I'm travelling and don't need a host, I use Couchsurfing to browse local events near me, and I always had a lot of fun!
When I'm not travelling, I love to show Montreal's best kept secrets!
Interests
I love history, culture, going to the beach, cooking, eating and nightlife. I love to learn new things and meeting new people. I really love stand up comedy and improv too! I have a passion from craft beers from around the world. That's one of the first thing I do when travelling to a new place: try their local beer! I'm a big fan of hidden gems and unknowns places, that's the hipster in me. 😉 I have a thing for aesthetic coffeeshops and thrift stores.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
In 2019, I bought a van that I converted to be able to live in (well, to sleep in). I crossed Canada, I drove all the way from Montreal to the West Coast. I stopped a week in Jasper, Alberta, to surprise my friend who moved there few months earlier. Then I spent few weeks exploring the States.
So far, I visited Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Wyoming, Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois, Michigan, NY, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Washington D.C, Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine, Missouri, Texas, Arizona, California, Nevada, Utah... To be continued!
I visited some crazy parks too : Yellowstone, Grand Canyon, Death Valley, Everglades, Florida Keys, Joshua Tree, Rocky Mountains (both in Canada and the US), Sequoia, White Mountains, Grand Teton, the Badlands (mostly the Canadian part)...
Back in 2017 I quit my full-time job to freelance and work from anywhere.
I went to Colombia for a little over a month to work from there, and I LOVED IT SO MUCH I'll never work in an office ever again. Since then, I worked from China, Vietnam, Mexico, all over the USA and Canada...
In 2016, I did my first solo trip and since then, I travel mostly solo! I just really love how it forces me to meet new people and make decisions that I would not make if I was with a group. I still love to travel with my BF or friends though ;-)
Teach, Learn, Share
My favorite thing to learn is recipes and trying local meals. I'm very into tasting new food, but don't be mad if I'm not eating meat, I'm a vegetarian :o)
I took cooking classes in Thailand and Vietnam.
As I said earlier, I love less-touristic places. Take me to your favorite local spot in your city and I can show mine in Montreal! I have a profile on Cool Cousins if you're curious about my spots : https://www.coolcousin.com/app/cities/montreal/alexanne-7f2574fe/
What I Can Share with Hosts
Food! (I feel like my entire profile is about food.. Don't worry folks, I have other interests haha)
Teach me how to cook your favorite local meal and I'll be the happiest girl in the world. I can teach you how to cook Quebec speciality meals like «pâté chinois», hot chicken, or (of course) poutine.
I just love how sharing a meal brings people together.
