About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I'm currently conducting research to discover how much Korean barbecue it is possible for one man to eat in one year.

ABOUT ME

I'm Alex, I was born and raised in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. I spent four years in Boston before moving to South Korea in November 2011 (after 2 months spent doing a lap of the US in my Mazda hatchback).

I'm here with my girlfriend Jessica teaching English during the week and trying to avoid monster trucking over Korean children while riding my bike on the weekends.

PHILOSOPHY

Strong coffee in the morning, bikes all day, tasty beer at night.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm a big fan of good TV shows. I love The Wire, The Sopranos, Deadwood, Oz, and Breaking Bad.

For music, I love bands like the Misfits, Avail, and Dead Kennedys, but also rap like Nas, Wu Tang, and Notorious BIG. I've also got a serious softspot for country like Merle Haggard and Hank Williams and was raised on bluegrass like Doc Watson and Earl Scruggs.

For books I've never met a Hemingway story I didn't like, but also have been known to devour nonfiction. I went through a phase in high school where I only read mountaineering nonfiction.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Dude, if you ever have the chance you should go to Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico because it will blow your mind.
Also be sure to ride at least one solid powder day in the Rockies.
Oh yeah, and also if you've never passed cars going downhill on your bike you should figure out a way to do that because its the best thing ever.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love teaching people how to fix, build, and ride bikes.
I also have some experience teaching English.

I would love to learn some technical stuff like welding, woodworking, or electrical stuff.
