I'm a student (undergraduate, double major in philosophy and history) and a political activist in Tennessee. I'm a vegan and a leftist. I'm a musician: I play mandolin, sometimes violin, in a variety of genres.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've been couchsurfing for a long time, though until recently I've always found places through personal or organizational connections, or traveled with someone who took care of those arrangements, so I'm new to using this site.

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to an extremely wide range of music but my favorite genres are folk (as in traditional fiddle music, not a singer-songwriter with a guitar), contemporary classical, alternative country, and experimental/alternative rock.

I used to read a lot of novels, particularly twentieth century novels--I love Faulkner, Joyce, Woolf, Pynchon. I also really like sci fi and fantasy. It's been a while since I've read much fiction, though, as I really only have time for nonfiction, particularly political philosophy and history since those are the fields I'm studying.
