About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Travel and drink as much good wine as I can before I die.

ABOUT ME

Well, I guess we could start by saying I'm a medical student, but that's boring. I tend be excessively grumpy in the morning, I love treasure hunts with complicated clues, I'm insane at limbo, I speak French, English, Spanish, a bit of German and Ewe, I badly want to learn the guitar, I have two best friends (one with curly red hair and the other one with straight blonde hair), I have a cat with Down syndrome called Hübsch, I don't have a driver's licence, I have won a free trip to Morocco on a quiz show, I have this weird obsession with watching photo albums of Elizabeth II when on drugs,I have recessive earlobes.

PHILOSOPHY

Respect yourself and others. Otherwise, have fun, explore, experiment, make mistakes, learn, laugh, and love!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I couchsurfed with my friend in Amsterdam and it was amazing! Our hosts were welcoming and open, and we had a blast! I was hosted in Cancun and Couchsurfing proved once more that cultural barriers exist only if you want them to. In July 2008, I was hosted in Buenos Aires and met an amazing person! My apartment tends to be a hotspot for random people, staying for a night, 2 weeks or sometimes 3/4 of the year! Grab your chance!

Interests

I'm fascinated by other cultures, and that is precisely why I'm travelling a lot. I love medecine, acting, dark chocolate and goat cheese, cinema, world music, journalism, swing dancing, international politics, writing, literature, learning languages, vegetarian cooking, board games, evenings around a good bottle of wine, and many other little things.

Music, Movies, and Books

I loved Requiem for a Dream and L'Auberge espagnole, and City of Gods. I also enjoy good documentaries like The Corporation. My favorite music artist is probably Manu Chao, but I love Jean Leloup, Charles Aznavour, Pierre Lapointe, and the classics of the swing era (Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Ella Fitzgerald, etc.). In terms of literature, I really enjoyed reading Disgrace by the South African Coetzee, and Conrad's Heart of Darkness, and La Vie devant soi by Romain Gary.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I spent 5 weeks in a slum near Lima, Peru, in the summer of 2005. I lived with a local family and volunteered in the community in a small school. I hiked up to 5,200 m in the Andes and slept surrounded by cockroaches in the Amazonian forest. I assisted surgeries in Ghana. I swam under the highest waterfalls in West Africa. I camped next to a mad monkey in Southern Mexico. I threw an illegal party for a friend in a bathroom for handicapped people at my university.

Countries I’ve Visited

Argentina, Bolivia, Canada, Cuba, Dominican Republic, France, Ghana, Mexico, Morocco, Netherlands, Peru, Tunisia, United States
