About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I'm riding my motorcycle around the US. I've got my surfboard attached to it and I want to see every mile of coastline I can, surf in every state, take a lot of photos, write, and make lots of new friends.

ABOUT ME

I like to think I'm an outgoing person who can get along / find things in common with just about anyone. Just about my favorite thing in the world is meeting and getting to know new friends.

I grew up landlocked near Baltimore, MD but was lucky enough to go to school in California. Now I'm addicted to the ocean and spend most of my time on the coast. At the moment, that's where I travel and live. I don't have a permanent address, just a motorcycle with a surfboard and a tent. I have no real plan except to stay near the ocean and let the adventure take me where it will. I'm eventually planning on moving back to Northern California because that's the only place that feels like home; but who knows, maybe somewhere else will inspire me.

I like to take photos of things and write about what I experience. These days, it's rare that I go out without a camera because you never know...

I don't need much in the way of amenities, just a floor will do - heck, even a space in the yard; I've got a tent. I've lived with roommate most of my adult life and I'm really good at staying out of people's way. Though, I do have two duffle bags of things and a surfboard which I'd need to store inside if you live anywhere where somebody might take unsecured things.

PHILOSOPHY

I suppose I'm a big advocate of The Golden Rule, I believe that life is too short to surround yourself with people who get you down, and that everyone needs to have an adventure of some sort.

Music, Movies, and Books

MOVIES: I like comedies, documentaries, and WWII movies.

MUSIC: I'll listen to just about anything but country and rap (though there are a FEW songs from each genre I like). I guess I listen to folk music the most - both new and old - recently, I've been listening to a lot of Paul Simon, Joe Pug, Jinja Safari. I'm one of those people who likes one or two songs from a lot of different bands. I will say, though, that if I hear Adele again, my head will explode.

Books: Lord of the Rings, most things by Hunter S. Thompson, and anything else that grabs my attention...make a suggestion!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

It might be lost on everyone except those who were there; but I once traveled from Santa Cruz to San Clemente, CA during a time when there were supposed to be horrible storms. Somehow, we stayed in a tiny clear patch of the storm the entire trip and it was one of the most epic two weeks of my life.

I've also seen a bald eagle take down a goose in flight. It was epic.

Teach, Learn, Share

TEACH: Well, I suppose I know a decent amount about how to use cameras...enough to get a beginner to stop using the auto setting and get more out of it.

SHARE: I love to surf (even though I'm not the best). The only thing that makes surfing better, is surfing WITH somebody.

I'm also comfortable doing basic motorcycle maintenance and like learning about different bikes than mine, so if you need an extra set of hands I'd be happy to help.

LEARN: I'm trying to learn how to run a website and do HTML a bit better. So if anyone knows that kind of stuff well, I'd love to pick your brain.
