About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To live a happy life, have fun and travel the world!

ABOUT ME

I am a queer vegan and an activist and take part in vegan outreach in Glasgow. I've been involved with the Glasgow Uni Vegan Society since I moved to Glasgow in 2006 and we recently published a 'Vegan Guide to Glasgow' to help those travelling in Glasgow, those new to Glasgow, or those new to veganism.
I am also involved in Glasgow Social Centre (glasgowsocialcentre.blogspot.com). We've just found a space in an existing community centre, but our aim is to eventually be able to provide a space open to all members of the community that will operate as a hub for a variety of community and social groups in Glasgow. In the space at the moment we're currently hosting workshops, and organising socials and events such as film showings and discussions and talks.
I've also recently just started doing yoga which is benefitting me quite a lot. I've been hanging out with a lot of good friends recently too. We usually end up having a potluck every week or two, where we all get together and catch up with each other. I don't normally spend nights out dancing til 3am, but every so often it's fun to do. I instead usually spend late nights in with friends, watching films and hanging out over vegan food. I don't really drink that much, or enjoy drinking much. It's not something I do regularly but every so often I'll have a glass of wine if I'm having a quiet night in.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've had some great experiences meeting great people. We have a lot of people stay at our flat, some couchsurfers and some bands, but either way we always have so much fun and the flat feels empty when people leave! I've had some great experiences meeting new vegans from different places through Couchsurfing.

Interests

When I'm not doing Vegan Soc stuff or GSC stuff, I like to read lots of books, go to gigs, go to the cinema, have friends over to watch crappy films and have potlucks, go to my favourite vegan cafe's, go on road trips, go for walks, and listen to music.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love a lot of music, I can dance and sing along to anything! But I mainly listen to punk and hardcore punk.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I got 77% for my Masters dissertation that was a particular amazing thing that I've done... having the ability to get that good a mark out of something I'd done entirely by myself was a pretty amazing achievement.

I'm sure I've seen a lot of amazing sights that have left me awestruck... meeting my sister for the first time after she was born was pretty amazing. But also simple sights have left me quite awestruck, like discovering amazing parts of your home city which you've never seen before that make you stop and look in amazement that you live in such a beautiful place filled with amazing things to see which are just waiting to be discovered.

Teach, Learn, Share
