About Me

This is Alex from Kyiv, Ukraine. I work as a translator/interpreter from English, as well as exports manager being a Master of International Economics. I'm still struggling to obtain an all-round educational background to be able to cover any subject discussed with newly met people.

I'm also a guitar player of Dysphoria band: http://www.last.fm/music/Dysphoria
Playing and producing music is my main and most beloved hobby - thanks to this one I met an army of mates from neighbouring countries, did 5 Eastern Europe tours, released 3 full-length albums. Sometimes I think I'm alive only when I finished composing a new song.

I visited Finland, Spain, Netherlands, Austria, Germany, Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic and Lithuania and absolutely loved every single place I've seen there.
I'm not a fan of "10 days-10 cities" program - I always stay in one place for like 3 days or so trying to plunge into foreign culture, architecture and communication as deep as possible.
Traveling schedule for 2015: Berlin, Vilnius, Budapest, Vienna, Helsinki, Prague and Madrid.
Traveling schedule for 2016: Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Stockholm (fuck yes!), Lisbon, Helsinki, Vilnius, Riga, Tallinn, Budapest, Barcelona, Hamburg.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have a dream of visiting every European (mainly) country and to broaden my mind by communication with foreign people, trying to live like they do at least for a couple of days, absorbing the atmosphere of old towns and modern cities, catching the music of foreign language, digging the vibe of local people.

If you're my host, I'm not interested in your couch. I'm interested in you. For sleeping we have hostels, hotels and camping. But I want to see what you see, I want to share my eating, coffee and my memories, I want to feel like a local and I want to leave a trace in a life of a human I would never meet without couchsurfing.

If I'm your host, beware of Ukrainian hospitality, rich food and crazy guide tours from a guy who was born in Kiev and knows this city to Z.

Interests

Writing & playing music, European trips. I also love studying English accents.
Reading news on space explorations and getting angry every time the scientists fail to invent super-effective space engine for interstellar trips!
Keeping a close eye on political and economical events in my own country - I can't become a Philistine not knowing what's going around me.

Music, Movies, and Books

Interstellar, Fighter, The Batman Trilogy by Nolan, Inception, Mad Max. Recently I fell in love with all movies with Tom Hardy (omg, his accent!). I also think I've seen almost all motivating sport drama movies, because... they motivate so much! =D

Ernest Hemingway. George Martin. I think I read almost all books from BBC top 200 books worthy of reading, and many more. I especially praise seriously plotted scientific fiction books - we're too little not to be interested in limitless space around us.

Although I'm still a fan of music which can be described to ordinary listener as heavy, I'm getting wet like a 16-years old girl from a fresh trance blaster by Armin Van Buuren or dirty beat from Noisia or cold electronics by Depeche Mode.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I managed to find a host in Prague, wow!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you a guitar playing basics settled on my 10 years experience.
I can tell you the secret of chart blasting song and how to look young.
I learn any lifehack I find abroad and I absorb all traveling ideas I hear from other people to transform them into my own journeys.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Ukrainian chocolate sweets (they are surprisingly good!).
A good talk on cultural differences, way of life in different countries, language specifics, national tradition, parties and hang outs, modern music sphere, "being a musician" subject, arts and literature, international politics and economics etc - I have hundreds of questions.
A nice walk through your city.
Cheap labor.
=D
