About Me

I’m a broad-minded person with a lot of interests. Though I’ve graduated from technical university, I’m totally involved into liberal arts now. Shooting movies, writing and editing articles about cinema, theatre and music — these are my today’s activities!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I’ve started travelling quite recently and this service seems to me very attractive and helpful to make new friends and discoveries, to share my experience as well as to see the world from a different point of view :)

Unfortunately, I can’t accept guests right now due to certain problems related to my apartment. But I’ll definitely try to fix it in the near future! :)

Interests

I'm a film critic at one of the Russian-language webzines and this is some kind of my hobby. Music, books, sports and even editorial stuff can be considered as my interests as well :)

Music, Movies, and Books

I think I love all music genres in their own way, but my preferences mostly concern dark electronic styles such as synthpop, futurepop, industrial, IDM. I’m also highly interested in post-rock, post-black, shoegaze and various modern blends of different kinds of music.

I can speak about movies endlessly, I’m so crazy about them :) I watch tons of flicks, but it’s the contemporary ones as a rule. American independent cinema is my favourite realm and here are my favourite modern day directors: Kelly Reichardt, Matthew Porterfield, Shane Carruth, Rick Alverson and Jeff Nichols. As for non-american authors, Claire Denis is the most important for me, I guess.

Books. As with cinema I mostly prefer literature which is connected with present days. Peter Watts with his dark science fiction character study techno-thrillers is my strong favourite here, but some other North American authors are so close to him. Dave Eggers, Jonathan Franzen, Donna Tartt — these names mean much to me as well.

Countries I’ve Visited
