Hi, I'm Xander.

I spent my earlier life in South Africa and New Zealand, but grew up in Sydney, Australia.
I currently am living and working in Taipei, Taiwan, where I teach English.

I'm a friendly person, always up to try something new or do an exciting activity.

I hope I can meet lots of new people and have fun!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I hope to meet friendly people from different cities and cultures, to make new friends, and to see places and communities I might not experience otherwise.

I think Couchsurfing is a great way to meet like-minded people. I enjoy talking to people about their backgrounds, cultures, views, lives and experiences, as this broadens my understanding and perspective of the world.

Interests

I enjoy geeky, dorky things, like gaming, watching and talking about films, playing board and card games, and reading science-fiction and fantasy novels.

I am also always keen to join people in almost any kind of social activity, like physical exercise, going out to restaurants, bars, and clubs, or doing any other number of fun things and good times.

I like meeting new people, and talking about what motivates them and what they think about life and the world we live in.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Alternative Rock and related sub-genres. My favourites are The Cure, New Order, and The Strokes. I also enjoy some electronic music, namely ambient and synthwave electronic music. I like other genres too, and anything I can dance to!

I love Fantasy and Science-Fiction as genres of movies and books.
Movies: Favourites are Blade Runner, The Princess Bride, Star Wars, The Lord of The Rings. Many, many more.
Books: Dune, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Roald Dahl.

Driven a scooter around the various streets of South-East Asia, only fell off twice, and lived to tell the tale!

I am eager to speak English with those who want to learn!
I'd love to learn some Japanese, and practice my German.
I can share my laughter and company, my conversation, and energy to meet new people. I can also share some (simple) Australian foods!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am super keen to help with any cleaning and chores needed with my hosts.
I am happy to cook, and to share some simple recipes I know, and share some truly unique Australian snacks!
