ABOUT ME

I am travelling with a childhood friend. We are both 30 years old and want to immerse ourselves in other countries and cultures. I used to work in theatre and event production, but recently I went back to uni to complete a Psychology degree. Hopefully I will be doing a masters in Rehab counselling in 2012/13 - with the hope of combining Psychology and social service. I love meeting new people, hearing their stories, making new and lasting friendships, talking about the world, writing old school letters and losing myself to music and the beautiful things this world has to offer. I'm itching to explore, discover and learn!

PHILOSOPHY

I'm a big lefty socialist and believe we all deserve the highest regard from each other! I believe in "touching the world lightly" and caring for the environments we are so lucky to live in. I believe in equality and I believe in human flourishing. I'm not religious but I believe in human spirituality.

I would love to meet as many new people as I can, and discover all the new things central and south America has to offer!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have never couch surfed before but I think it will be an awesome and fun way of meeting people our age and practising my Spanish which I have been learning since January. I love the Spanish language - it has been a joy to learn over this year!

Interests

I'm a runner! I love music! I love reading, I love to write letters, I love food, I love meeting new people! I love dinner parties, I love conversation, new ideas and learning.

Music, Movies, and Books

The music I am listening to at the moment is post dub step, dub, cumbia electronica, hip hop. The movies I have loved recently have been biutiful, How I ended this summer, Science of Sleep, New York Syndoche, (existential films with a focus on cinematography and the human spirit) Books I love are: 100 years of Solitude (cien años de soledad), Love in the time of cholera, Master and Margarita, Kafka on the Shore, The 1000 autumns of Jacob de Zoet, The Book Thief, ( I could go on and on!)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've seen the sun rising over the Mediterranean as I travelled by train from Spain to Italy. I have worked on the Athens Olympics Opening and Closing ceremonies and lived their for 6 months. I ran the whole of central park in New York, ran up a steep San Francisco Hill and cycled over the Golden Gate Bridge. I go running every Sunday over the Sydney Harbour Bridge and past the Opera House and it never ceases to amaze me that I live in a postcard!

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach - I could share my love of food and nutrition, I can take you running!, I can teach you burlesque and performance! or my events knowledge, my psychology and spiritual knowledge, my knowledge of Australia, I can share my music loves and my writing loves, I can share my English skills. I would love to learn more language, culture, belief systems of others. I will and want to share everything. anything!
