About Me

ABOUT ME

Hi! I'm Alexie; Just your ordinary white collar corporate drone hoping for a life of escapism & spirituality & meaning.

When I'm not doing my 9 - whatever time I end at; I'm going out for drinks, smoking some shisha, doing yoga, playing badminton, swimming, hitting the gym, karaoke-ing, and my hidden passion: cooking & hosting.

Currently, I'm not hosting but I'd love to hang out and show you guys the local ropes.

PHILOSOPHY

Acquire currency. Acquire luxuries. Indulge.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To meet people of different cultures, exchange knowledge and experiences, and it's a completely immense experience

Interests

Travelling of course! On the weekends, I'm usually taking a swim or hitting the gym. Occasionally wandering around searching for the next best coffee spot or even dining out. Love hosting parties too. I've a strong inclination to the artistic side as well: self taught designer, guitarist. Looking to conquer the double bass next!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: JAZZ! Blues, Lo-fi!

Movies: The Intouchables, American Hustle, ALL Quentin Tarantino's stuff, etc. etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

To overcome my fear of the ocean. I grew up in a household where we're taught to fear the ocean because both my parents weren't swimmers. I grew up unexposed to swimming (well barely exposed) and I was never able to swim until I got my own apartment with a pool. From then on, I emulated and practiced until I begun swimming like a slow swimming fish. I've always had a love/hate relationship with the oceans, I love its sweeping waves, the warmth, and its peace but I always feared it.

When I finally got the confidence to approach it, I was in Cote d'Azur, France. It was a warm summer day with the ocean filled to the brim with people. Feeling the confidence of the crowd, I decided to hop in and take a dip. From then on, I slowly exposed myself to the sea by meditating with the waves sweeping against me, and by picking up surfing.

The rest is history. Whenever I'm back in the city, I always feel the waves of the sea brushing up against me. I left my soul at the ocean.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach some language that I'm familiar with; If you'd want to know what it is like to come from a South East Asian country with 3 large cultures converging into one, feel free to drop me a message or ask me. I play some guitar and cook so teaching that would be alright. Except don't expect masterchef or some virtuoso guitarist.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can cook decently. I bring you coffee. And I can sing too.
