About Me
Hi!
I'm Atlas and my boyfriend is Mani (our legal names are on our profile but these are the names we go by). I'm from America and he's from Germany but we met while studying at university together in Greece. A little over a year ago we decided to give up our apartment and travel the world. We've been doing it ever since and have been to over 10 countries. We are the type of travellers that like to take things slow. Meet people, explore the culture, walk down unknown roads. We're not really the type to have a checklist of places to see or things to do. We like to leave things open to adventure!
We're a very down-to-earth hippie couple. We speak English and German (Mani is fluent, I'm learning). We love to cook and bake so if you also like that we can share meals and exchange recipes. We are also very interested in spirituality and love to exchange ideas on the subject of meditation, Taoism, Buddhism, higher substances, etc. We are extremely open-minded!
We've had a couchsurfing profile for a while now but we never really used it because we were mainly traveling with Workaway, hence our lack of reviews/activity.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
We both love to travel and know how limiting it can be if you are on a budget. We think couchsurfing is a great way for people to be able to travel more. It's also one of the best ways to get to know a city since you can stay with someone who's lived there for a while and knows where all the little gems are located. You get to experience some of the non-touristy places and feel like a local for your stay.

Music, Movies, and Books
For music he always tells people that he likes heart music, music that comes from the heart and can be felt by the listener. I suppose I feel the same way but to be more specific I generally listen to techno, different types of indie and oldies, like the 30s and 40s. We have several records and a makeshift music studio so if you want to listen to anything or if you purchase any records in town you are more than welcome to use the studio.
For movies we watch things that I guess would be called cinematic masterpieces. We really enjoy films that focus on all elements to create beautiful movies. Our favorite directors are Stanley Kubrik, Terrance Malik, Wes Anderson, Quentin Tarantino, Guillermo Del Toro, etc. However, sometimes we need a break and indulge in the occasional trash movie. We like all kinds of genres including anime, sci-fi, thrillers, comedies, documentaries and anything that really expands our minds or challenges our ways of thinking.
For books, again, we read anything that sounds interesting, both fiction and non-fiction. A lot of what we read now has to do with spirituality. Most recently we've been reading Alan Watts, Osho, Lao-Tzu, and Goenka.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The most amazing thing we've done recently is Vipassana meditation. It really improved our personal meditation experience and changed how we see a lot of things.
Teach, Learn, Share
If you are into spirituality and meditation we can share our experience and ideas about life, the universe and everything in between. Really, we are open to any philosophical or life type discussions.
On a lighter side we are also both artistic and musical. Mani graduated with a degree in music and is really interested in ethnic instruments. He also loves drumming and would love to participate in a drum circle one day! I play ukulele and sing. I know mostly indie and psychedelic pop/rock songs. Previously, I was just trying to learn songs for fun but recently I've been more interested in improving my skills and knowledge of music theory.
