About Me
Hi! I’m Alexis. I’m from Brooklyn, New York. I studied Mycology at Clark University (Worcester, MA) and have been very lucky to have been given the opportunity to travel to many places for field work.
I spent the last 3 years running an Integrative Biology lab that focuses on social insects and fungi at the University of Texas at Austin. I love research and academia, but have found that I feel most fulfilled and happy when I am outdoors getting my hands dirty and interacting with other like-minded individuals. A few months ago I quit my job to try something new and i've been traveling through Europe working odd jobs and learning new languages ever since.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love meeting fellow travelers and couchsurfing is a wonderful way to do that! I love showing visitors my home and appreciate when others can do the same - it's always nice to have the inside scoop on where to go and what to see from a local :) I also love exchanging funny stories with fellow travelers getting ideas for new trips.
