About Me

ABOUT ME

I'm sometimes described as "quiet." I love to travel and talk to people about their cultures, their perspectives, and their lives.

I have tattoos. Scary.

I write fiction.

PHILOSOPHY

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've hosted and met up with local CS'ers in Seattle and Oakland. In South America and Mexico I did some surfing. Very nice.

When I lived in Brooklyn, NY, some CS'ers that I met in Bolivia came to visit. Good times.

When I've got a couch available, I'm happy to host....

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

This a great way to get the local experience. I wouldn't love travel so much if it weren't for the people I've met.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like the experimental and the avante-garde: writing, film, music that push the limit, but also traditionally done stuff that is beautiful and human. I like dark humor.

Some favorite writers are Franz Kafka, Carlos Fuentes, Carson McCullers, David Foster Wallace, Clarice Lispector, and Laszlo Krasznahorkai.

Some films I've loved are There Will be Blood (Paul Thomas Anderson), The Assassin (Hou Hsiao-Hsien), Hard to Be a God (Aleksei German), and The Grand Budapest Hotel (Wes Anderson)

I listen to all kinds of music. Every kind of rock (punk, metal, folk, surf, classic), jazz, hip-hop, indie-pop. Just make sure it's not Coldplay or U2.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The Colosseum in Rome. Machu Picchu in Peru. Siem Reap in Cambodia. Ok, that's three things.

Teach, Learn, Share

Let's talk about travel, culture, the arts, food, wine, or drugs, sex, and rock'n'roll, if that's your thing.

I can also offer mustache coaching.

What I Can Share with Hosts

You like to eat? I can cook a good vegetarian meal.

Countries I’ve Visited
