About Me

My name is Alex, and I'm a designer/artist based out of sunny St Pete, Florida. I currently work as a designer at a sculpture studio, where we make large scale public art (think The Bean in Chicago). I do all the computer work, so pretty much design the whole thing in virtual space before it's made and then the boss takes all the credit when it's done. It's a pretty cool job and I'm very fortunate to work on something interesting most days. Besides that, I'm just another millennial into politics and sports and aquaponics and a bunch of other things. I actually have too many random interests to keep track of.

Anyways, if you're looking to surf, I own a home right near downtown, and the household loves hosting young traveling people, although we're busy so sometimes we just don't have the energy to host. Just FYI, I tend to respond better to messages that are lengthier and give me a sense of who you are (messages saying: 'hey I just need a place to stay' aren't ideal). Keep in mind that you'll be staying with me and my roommates, so I have to ensure their wellbeing as well and sell them on your story. In general, I believe in the couchsurfing community and helping those that are a part of it, so I'm more likely to host you if you've been a host before, but it's definitely not a prerequisite.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on Couchsurfing because I believe in what the Couchsurfing community stands for, and there's nothing better than meeting new people that I may have never met otherwise.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like a little bit of everything for the most part. But nothing like a good horror movie.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Spent 2 weeks in the Panama jungle with my peace corps buddy, and we went around the country photographing the indeginious tribes. Slept every night in a hammock between palm trees in the jungle. Ate sea turtle eggs, bribed government officials, had multiple guns pointed at me, got mild dysentery, and took some Nat Geo quality photos. Also got detained in Houston on the way back because I was covered in jungle paint. Solid trip.

Teach, Learn, Share

So if you stay with me, I'm happy to discuss photography (photojournalism minor and multiple awards/competitions won), CAD design, public art, gentrification, etc etc

What I Can Share with Hosts

Some pretty interesting stories about the public art game. Happy to pick up a 6-pack or bottle of wine and share :)

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, Israel, Mexico, Panama
