About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Figure out where I want to live.
ABOUT ME
Finished my PhD in Southampton after nearly seven years there (plus six months ERASMUS in Milan). Moved to Belgium now.!
When I'm not studying (quite often), I love making a noise. I'll have a go at playing any instrument I can find. I love foreign languages, and I know loads of useless bits of Finnish and Russian and things. I read quite a bit, big fan of crime novels.
Some things I love: horn sections, the sea, film noir, languages, gorgonzola, unreliable narrators, Chris Morris, natural light, Motown, flying, long walks, records, cooking successfully. And meeting new people travelling, obviously!
PHILOSOPHY
I love learning new things and thinking of things in ways I haven't before. And I like trying to help other people do the same. And I'm a firm believer in the kindness of strangers.
Interests

Music, Movies, and Books
Some books I love: Dancing Aztecs, Gormenghast, Things The Grandchildren Should Know, Arsene Lupin.
My favourite musicians: eels, The Band, Dan le Sac Vs Scroobius Pip, Regina Spektor, Elliott Smith.
Films: The Wicker Man, Airplane!, The Pianist, Primer
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Flown a helicopter. Most incredible thing ever. Seriously, there's nothing like being in control of a machine, floating ten metres above the ground, that can fly sideways.
Teach, Learn, Share
I've taught English as a foreign language during holidays, did a teaching course and stuff. And I play a bunch of different instruments fairly well.
Countries I’ve Visited
