About Me

*I am more than happy to host you if you are a genuine couchsurfer (interested in talking, hanging out, sharing cultures) and not just someone looking for free accommodation. I'm more likely to decline if your profile is not completed, and if you didn't read my profile*

CURRENT MISSION

Dream, Travel, Live, Laugh, Be Happy

I’m not travelling to spend a bucket load on seeing every tourist site, to go into every museum, I like to just experience my surroundings, meet locals, see how the other half live, go to the ‘local spots’.

ABOUT ME

Hello, Alex here. I'm (not-so freshly) back home after living in San Francisco for a year. (Missing it ever so slightly!) And just finished off a 3mth trip around Australia. Next I plan to tackle Europe come June/July 2018 for however long I last.

I'm a pretty down to earth, easy going person. Most of the time I just like to go with the flow. I'm not a party animal and don't drink. I love to meet new people, and am trying to make the most of each experience that comes my way, say 'yes' to anything and everything (as long as its not 'too' crazy) get out of my comfort zone and just enjoy what the world has to offer.

I haven't been everywhere yet, but it's on my list :)

PHILOSOPHY

'Life reflects what you put into it'.
I want to live a full life and in my opinion a life of experience and memories is more important than a life of materials and possessions.
And I plan on making as many memories as humanly possible.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Because sharing is caring

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I was first introduced to couchsurfing while I was living in America, where a friend and I travelled around for 3 weeks, staying in Denver, Chicago, New York, Boston, DC and Miami, where we were very lucky to stay with 6 lovely hosts. My friend was the one who organised everything as she was more familiar with couchsurfing then I was at the time.

I enjoyed it so much and thought it was such a wonderful idea, that I told myself I have to get involved. So when I came home and had my own place I jumped at the opportunity. I changed my profile to 'accepting guests' at the start of April 2016 and have had only great experiences so far.
I unfortunately haven’t been able to host anyone for the past year, but plan on starting up again when I get back from Europe and my housing situation is different.

Interests

I love the outdoors! I can walk forever and beyond, and enjoy taking in my surroundings. I love going to the beach.
I also enjoy staying in, listening to music, reading, drawing.
I recently have started gardening and love it, love being outside in nature.
As long as I’m content, happy and having fun.

Music, Movies, and Books

Any good movie, I love all genres.
I love my music: Jack Johnson, John Butler Trio, Matt Corby, Bastille, Didirri, One Republic, James Arthur, Johnny Cash, The Beatles, Queen, Cold War Kids, The Wombats, Twin Atlantic, Adele, Xavier Rudd, Tom Odell, Broods, Ellie Goulding, Gavin DeGraw, Miner, George Ezra ... the list goes on haha any song that I can sing and bob along to, all the way to a good song with a powerful meaning.
Love books too, any book that someone recommends I'll give it a go. Recently been introduced to James Patterson, love his work. And Lee Child (not a Tom Cruise fan though).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I went sky diving at the beginning of 2013. It was the most exhilarating thing I have ever experienced. I highly recommend everyone to give it a go throughout your life. Even if you are afraid of heights (I have trouble even standing on a ladder!) It was amazing haha

Teach, Learn, Share

I’d love to pick up some helpful (or not so helpful) phrases in each language. You’re more than welcome to laugh at me as I try and pronounce your words 😆
Plus I am more than happy to share with you, whatever it is that I can. Give me a grocery list before I come, I’ll cook dinner. Unfortunately, I don’t think Australians have a national dish (pretty sure we stole them all from the British) but I can still cook them. But if I had to name some I’d say a good old barbie, roast lamb, and a meat pie, plus we have our sweets like a lamingtons, a pavlova and ANZAC bikkies.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Have you tried vegemite yet? 😏
