About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To become intimately familiar with Chicago while constantly learning new things about the rest of the world.

ABOUT ME

I'm a journalism and international studies double major from New York City, working part-time as a local news reporter in Chicago. Last year I was enrolled in a language-intensive study abroad program in Jordan to learn Arabic. That was my second experience living abroad--I took a gap year after high school to live with a host family and attend a public secondary school in Maturin, Venezuela, an experience that changed my life. Now, making friends in other countries is sort of a pastime of mine.

PHILOSOPHY

Adventure is out there. Everything is a learning experience.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've hosted some people in New York this summer, and I'm hoping I can surf in Europe and the Middle East at some point in the future. I may not be able to host people in Chicago, but I'd love to meet up and help introduce you to this amazing city. I'm very adaptable, not snobby or picky at all. I'm just in it for the experience.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm still fairly new to the system, but I surfed for two days with a host in Copenhagen, and it was a blast and a total success.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once swam at the basin of Angel Falls in Canaima, Venezuela, the tallest waterfall in the world. That was pretty incredible.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm pretty well-versed in American history and politics, as well as many global political issues. If you want an educated American perspective on any issue, I can be your guy. And having lived in Venezuela for a year, I can talk endlessly about that country's politics and culture (not to mention the fact that I speak fluent Spanish). I've also spent a couple years covering education and local politics in Chicago, so I'm very knowledgeable about those issues as well. I also spent one summer getting an inside perspective on how an American network news organization operates, and I have some stories.
