About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To always make it back home in time for a good roast dinner

ABOUT ME

Ok then well here we go, how to summarise yourself in a small box of text. I am sure the best way to go about it would be to attach your CV but im not sure what qualifications hosts might be looking for.

I am currently living on a Narrowboat near Cambridge!

I am tall, something that is a first impression across a lot of East Asia during my past trips. At home I like to take photographs, make films and read. I have travelled for 7 months around east asia with a guitar, so that gives you an idea of how much I enjoy music. Love world music and some good old catchy Indie rock. I have worked at The Naked Scientists in Cambridge as a filmmaker making educational films and communicating ideas using visual media.

Like many travellers I guess an interest in people and culture is very important. I have studied anthropology for over four years and carried out research in Indonesia and Kenya.

I am a keen photographer and filmmaker with my main interest being documentary and ethnographic films about science, nature and their relationship with humanity.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am currently travelling and therefore un-able to offer a couch. I will be free to meet up and show people around wherever my boat is moored - near Cambridge at the moment.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I am pretty hooked on staying at friends couches/floors to see their towns. General interest stems from that. Since joining I have stayed with loads of people from across the world and hopefully some more great experiences to come very soon. From coral reefs in Indonesia to safari's in Africa I have couchsurfing companions across the world and really enjoy the experiences I have.

Couchsurfing is a great way to get to know a country rather than simply glancing at the surface like most travelers. I find it difficult to travel without couchsurfing now as I have had such great experiences.

Interests

Music (instruments and watching/listening). As I travel I am interested in taking numerous photographs too. I enjoy the outdoors and keeping fit so a few days trekking is always good fun, and there is nothing like exploring a city by pedal bike or with a motor.

I love documentary film and am keen to show the realities of everyday life for people across the world through my films.

Its impossible to list everything that interests me as each new town/place/city throws a spanner in the works.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Living in a stilt village in Indonesia. Looking out from the Usamburu mountains.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am interested in learning as much as I can of some new laguages and especially Mandarin and Russian which I have had a great time tackling on travels in the past.

I play guitar and have taught children aged 10-17 so if anyone wanted a bit of instruction then let me know.

Hopefully my conversation is enjoyable and it would be great just to get to know people from across the world. I can tell my story of places I have visited but that is never really enough to change plans, so I always say use opinions as guidance and take a look yourself to see what a place is really like.
