About Me

"Your life is either defined by the system, or by the way you defy the system.”

This is a quote that I like and that defines me somehow. But, if you want some actual information about me and what I'm doing with my life... I'm a 24 years old Galician guy who is an au pair in Tampere (Finland). I studied civil engineering in the city of A Coruña. I'm an open-minded guy, who loves politics and history and of course hang out with friends, drink a beer, watch a movie, etc... My mind is more about politics, human rights, art, freedom, different cultures and I could be talking all night about stuff like that but I also have my scientist part, I love urban planning and what I want to do in my life is integrative and feminist urbanism, change the cities to make them greener, more inclusive and more human.

I'm currently living with a hostfamily or travelling, so it's not possible for me to host people since it's not my house.

I think I'm a nice guest or at least I try, I always try to make people comfortable in my presence. I love meeting new people, specially from different cultures than mine, trying new meals, learning from people who have lived more experiences and known more things than me. Leaving the comfort zone is what makes you alive. I love people who try to make the world a better place, with dreams and honesty.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I think couchsurfing is the best way to know the city you are staying in and its actual culture, history and life. I can't see the benefits of staying at a hotel, see touristic stuff, go to the fast food restaurant that you can find in your hometown and take some selfies to show. I want real experiences with local people to "expand" my culture and to open my mind and change my point of view. That would be a successful trip.

Anyway, I think this is a perfect way to create small safe places around the world in cities or countries that you don't know (yet), this is why everyone is welcomed to my home, no matter colour of skin, gender, sexual orientation, religion or Hogwarts house (but if you are Hufflepuff you are more welcomed than the others of course).

Music, Movies, and Books

I like most styles of music (from galician folk to indie, rock, ska or rap), books and movies (not superheroes or free violence). But if I have to choose:

The Dreamers, The eternal sunshine of the spotless mind, La vita è bella, Goodbye Lenin, Die welle, Pride, The Truman Show, Los amantes del círculo polar, Titanic, Back to the future, The edukators, all Pixar movies, Earthlings, The butterfly effect, Persepolis, Mustang, Odödliga, Mysterious skin, La llamada, etc...

About books, right now I'm into political essays but I like books like 1984, Submarine, The perks of being a wallflower and some Galician and Spanish books.

And I watch too many TV series... too many, but my favourite is Sense8, but I also watch Black Mirror, La casa de papel, Vis a vis, Paquita salas, The walking dead, Skins, Fariña, etc...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I swam naked in the Portuguese sea at midnight. I walk on a lake in Finland.

The 30 minutes I thought about my life in a mosque in Istanbul completely alone even if I'm not religious, I could understand why people like to go to places to relax in the middle of this chaotic world.

The month I lived in Slovakia as volunteer was pretty weird, but I can't describe it here. I can only say "What doesn't kill you, leaves you traumatized".

Teach, Learn, Share

Everything interesting about any topic that comes to your mind, I will listen to it and it will be nice.

What I Can Share with Hosts

A good mood, a smile, and I can cook spanish tortilla (and more meals, but my tortilla is A-MA-ZING ) and if you're vegan we can try to make the vegan version, but if we make a mess, I'm sorry.
