About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I'm looking to meet awesome people and travel to some cool places. After being on CS for some time I've been able to meet some amazing people and stay in some really cool places over the world. Im grateful for all the people that have helped me get around and welcomed me into their homes. I am hoping to travel through Africa and Central Asia in the future. Thanks in advance!

ABOUT ME

My names Alex and I'm from a little town outside of New York City. I graduated college from the University of Miami in 2015 and I'm going to be starting a masters program in Russian studies in St Petersburg, Russia in September, with the aspiration of becoming a lawyer that specializes art and literature. I like to read and travel and I'm big into yoga as well. I love traveling and have managed to see the better part of the US and a lot of both Europe and Asia, pretty much via couchsurfing. I'm an open minded person and love meeting people from different places and new experiences.

PHILOSOPHY

I really like to help people and I worked at a treatment center before I moved to Miami. I also love the beach and nature, along with anything spirituality.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

When I first started CS it was on a limb from a buddy who surfed a few times, but after traveling a bunch and staying all over I'm totally a believer and am really glad to have met so man awesome people doing it. Thanks!

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm a nerd for classic books especially Russian authors, some of my favorite being, Dostoyevsky, gogel, And Tolstoy. The short list of the rest is Sherwood Anderson, Hemingway, Hesse, Kerouac (of course) and books on Tibetan Buddhism.I love art and tend to always end up at museums whenever i'm traveling. I'd say my favorite painter is Kandinsky or Jackson pollock.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I lived in "rural" Shanghai teaching kids and I traveled a bit throughout China.

One of my favorite tripe was renting a 1979 camper and driving around the Kenai peninsula in Alaska.

Teach, Learn, Share

I really like school and learning and general. One of my favorite things about CS is being able to meet locals easily and experience the culture and ask questions. Even if it is for a short time I always learn something. I've also learned a lot about my own culture and "Americanness" from visiting places very different then my country.
