About Me

Hi! My name is Alex. I'm 22.
I never go anywhere without my aviator glasses and I am prone to long bouts of disappearing. Trust that id you can't find me, I'm already away at a hidden beach somewhere.
I like to read and meet new people. The kind of fun I like ranges from chilling in a hammock with a cold drink and a good conversation to cliffdiving off a 30m drop I saw local kids on an island do.
I like adventure and living life to the fullest. New experiences are always welcome and my favorite places are where the best thing to be wearing are bikinis.
I try my best to follow a philosophy of kindness and faith in people. This backfires on me more than I'd like.
I believe in always putting a little thrill in life so I usually do things that make people think I am either incredibly brave or incredibly stupid. I might be a little bit of both.
Should you wish to find me, I'll be by the sea. You can ask the mermaids where... or message me on couchsurfing. Whichever is more convenient.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My interest in Couchsurfing, like all things, came from my mom. She told me about this great concept she was introduced to by some friends wherein you could go on a website and request to stay on a person's house.

To a teenager who had big dreams of traveling the world, the concept of going around the world one couch at the time was incredible. There was a place on the internet where you-- a complete stranger-- could be someone's house guest? It revolutionized the concept of travel for me. You did not need to book expensive hotels where you were stuck alone in your room. You need not have to go through the pain of facing a cold, strange city. Couchsurfing gave you an instant introduction to a city, it's culture and it's people in the blink of an eye. Here, you have a warm home instead of a bought bed; here, you had a host who'll tell you a little about what life is like in the city when the day settles down and all that's left is the whimsy of daily life.

Needless to say, I was hooked.

I feel strongly about traveling. It's a wonderful process of turning yourself over to a place and its people, introducing yourself, opening your heart to the entirety of it and having the place introduce itself to you... welcoming you.

With this in mind, I want to be a person who helps you get to know my country and my city. I want to help you find joy in each place one visits.

Music, Movies, and Books

This is a difficult question. It's always hard to pick one favorite out of everything, I think but I'll try my best.

I'm a voracious reader, music saves me from dull bus rides, movies give me insight and to add a little something extra: series keep me entertained.

I consider my favorites as follows:

Books:
I read everything but I love Science fiction, Classics, Dark Romanticism and books that serve as social and political commentaries. My bookshelf has: Poe, Hemingway, Fitzgerald, Dostoevsky, Nietzsche, Rowling, Tolkien, Shakespeare, Murakami, Garcia-Marquez and a bunch of Academic books.

Music:
My music tastes range from hard metal to EDM to Disney soundtracks. I have a playlist called "guilty pleasures" and it's filled with pop songs. If the music is good, it's good.

Movies and Series:
Let's just say Netflix and I are very close.
I watch anything and everything so you could find some nice romantic comedies next to foreign films and dark, disturbing psychological horror. If it has insight, I like it. The only thing I'm not too much of a big fan of is drama. Too much drama.
