About Me

CURRENT MISSION

"Instructions for living a life: pay attention; be astonished; tell about it."

ABOUT ME

I live in the wonderful city of Victoria and play music for a living. I love to ride bikes, wade in the ocean, and cook and bake, and if I can share these things with some of the amazing friends I've made here, then all the better. I finished a music degree in the spring of 2012 and I've been playing jazz, folk, and whatever since with West My Friend, the Victoria Symphony, and many, many other groups and artists. Local ecosystems and geography (physical and social) are a deep passion. It's a goal of mine to travel around the West Coast and the rest of North America on foot or by bike.

PHILOSOPHY

I live to explore myself and share joy and smiles with other people who are willing to do the same. I live for the now and the happiness and wonder that you can find in it. The Earth is alive and there is absolutely no end to astonishment and joy that you live in if you allow yourself to open and see.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I stay in strangers' homes nearly nonstop as a professional touring musician, and have relied on couchsurfing.org more than a couple times to find places to stay when venues haven't provided a family or home to stay with. Travelling and playing music is one of my greatest passions (and also how I make my living!), and as a socialist-minded middle-classer, it's important to me for everyone to contribute how they're able to so that it works for everyone!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Only great ones! I've hosted a growing number of light-footed people and they have only been kind, warm, and full of laughter, gratitude, and stories. The same goes for my experience being hosted; while less in number, my hosts have been wonderfully compassionate and welcoming.

Interests

Music, bicycles, social advocacy and urban design, local food and drink, staycations, non-fiction and poetry, writing, baking, cooking.

Teach, Learn, Share

I absolutely love meeting musicians and sharing music and laughs with them - all musicians have similiar and unique skills, and exchanging and sharing these are why I love to play music myself. If you've got an instrument or the hands from one, a singing voice, or just about anything, let's share!

Not from here and want to learn about some coast plants? I'm the first person to say I'm no expert, but enough wandering in the woods with folks who know far more than I do has taught me about a lot of different plants and trees - many of them tasty!
