About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To share stories and experience over stiff drinks with as many different people in as many different countries as humanly possible.
ABOUT ME
A quick bio - I'm Alex, was born in Tokyo, but spent the majority of my life in Vancouver Canada. Although I have been going back to Japan every summer to visit family members, I always start missing Vancouver after a month. But I get restless easily. They say that "home is where the heart is", so I'm always in a different country at least twice a year trying to find out where my heart truly lies! And since I am in love with places I've never seen & people I've never met, I guess its going to be a long time until I settle. Travelling, and making strong friendships with interesting people from all corners of the globe is my #1 passion in life right now.
Besides exploring and meeting new people, all kinds of, but especially Electronic music, Snowboarding, Festivals, Cooking, Dancing, Active Sports, Playing guitar, Camping, Going out for movies/concerts/clubbing/beach/shows/plays/restaurants, staying in with good friends, random long drives, spontaneous adventures, staying fit, eating healthy, NFL, Raving, and celebrating life through the consumption of entire 40's of Vodka with good company, is what I believe the meaning of life hides behind.
As for my character, its better to hear what others have to say - so check out some of my references. =)
PHILOSOPHY
Fate is fluid, but your destiny is in your hands.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I find it really eye-opening and fun to offer guests a place to stay and show them around my hometown. I have experienced and been blown away by how there are such impossibly kind and hospitable people in this world and I love passing on that awesome experience to others! I absolutely love meeting new people in new places and bonding with them through sharing experiences that we've endured from opposite sides of the world. It reminds me that it doesn't matter who you are, or where your from, but at the end of the day, we all just want to be surrounded by the people we love and care for. When Strangers become Friends, and Friends become Family.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I started off by hosting a couple people in Vancouver from Holland shortly before my one-year excursion to Europe, and being able to show them around in the city I grew up in really made me stop and appreciate all the little things that I otherwise probably never would have realized. Since then, I've been surfing all over Europe and am looking forward to hosting more once I get back to Vancouver.

Music, Movies, and Books
I can watch any movie and thoroughly enjoy it. Except Black and White movies. Music, I really enjoy any type of music in the world, but I gotta say Electronic Dance Music, in particular, Electro, Trance (Psy, Hard, Vocal, Tech), Dark Progressive House, Dance (Will Sparks!), are genres that get me dancing all night. I'm not a huge fan of reading but I have read books and am always willing to read books that are recommended to me by friends. "Master and Margarita" by Mikhail Bulgakov is a book i really enjoyed, as well as "The Alchemist" by Paulo Coelho.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Climbed to the top of Mt. Fuji in the summer with a T-shirt, shorts, and sandals with 3 of my friends. The look on the faces of other people wearing full mountain climbing gear and portable oxygen tanks with masks was priceless.
