About Me

Hello I'm Alex from the land down under. I'm a laid back human, with an open-mind and open-heart, with a real appreciation for spontaneous boogies and I like people, a lot. I've been on the move a lot the last decade, dabbling in projects, ideas and communities that satiate my curiosity. I've just emerged from 2 years of living in the wild west (the West Australian outback) and now have a fairly strong urge to throw in city life and head back to the red dirt and become a cowgirl. Cowgirl dreams aside, I am real keen on communities that are interested in being kinder, less wasteful and more connected, and I really love young people and their infinite potential to create change.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to hang with locals to learn, share, and see how they move about in their part of the world. I love meeting new people of all stripes, hearing new stories, perspectives and being stretched.

Interests

I'm endlessly curious about this lovely little-big planet and the people on it. I'm fascinated by how other people and cultures live their lives, how people relate to one another, with the environment and their community.

Music, Movies, and Books

My musical tastes are broad but some old faithfuls are: the Doors, Edith Piaf, Nina Simone, David Bowie, New Order, Arvo Part, the Magnetic Fields and disco (Boney M is always on high rotation for kitchen boogies).

Film wise, I'm a big fan of Taika Waititi and Wes Anderson and on the book front I love investigative journalism and biographies.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Bearing witness and participating in many cultural traditions and sacred ceremonies.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share stories, wine, a spontaneous boogie, some ears for listening, some hands for cleaning, a mean breakfast. I like kids too and would be most happy to mind them.
